Anyone get in with about a 3.6 UW...?

ok so i know that i’m grasping a tiny beacon of hope… but i’m trying to reassure myself, however futile it may be, and boost my confidence.
you see, i performed horribly my freshman and last semester of sophomore year – but i pulled off a 3.93 UW (3.83; anticipating 4.0 second semester, we’re pretty much doing nothing in my APs with the exception of projects because all the tests are over) my junior year. i exhausted all the APs at my school (10) and took the most rigorous courseload. but my freshman year (3.4) and sophomore year (3.667, 3.333) continue to haunt me. otherwise, i have pretty good tests and ECs…
anybody get in with something similar to my situation?
hopefully i’m not fighting a losing battle… i plan on EDing to the college next year.
thanks guys for any help

yea...i got in to the college....and wharton too.....its possible....i think my 92% UW is about equal to a 3.6

hey congrats!

Applying ED definitely helps.

i think the whole 4 pt 100 pt thing is gay... i have about a 3.6-3.7 which changes to roughly a 92/93... but it looks "bad" compared to someone with a 92/93, because there are people on 4 pt scales with 3.9's... just my little rant

actually, a 3.67= 90-92

still... that's about what i have, and i think collegs will look more favorable on a 91 than a 3.67...

nah dude, a 3.7 is a a-, which is 89.5-92.5 (at my school at least)

Penn recalculates GPAs. It's all good son.

thanks for the replies... so does penn use freshman GPA... because i know that princeton and stanford do not, as well as the UCs.. hopefully they dont because my freshman year was the worst... :o

what? at my school, 90 is 4.0 and 100 is 4.0

Why wouldn't they use freshman?!

bc a lot of schools think its not always the best represenation of your work. freshman year (esp. the first semester) can cause lower GPAs because of the transition to high school life, etc.

penn uses freshman...they use the "holistic" approach....

Because of freshmen year my gpa is not as high, I have a 92.5 unweighted, but sometimes I feel discouraged when I see all these other people. But recalculating our grades should help. Our grading scale sucks, my 92 is only a 3.3uw at my school.

"ok so i know that i'm grasping a tiny beacon of hope... "

I'm grasping my See-Ohh- single See.....kay?

ya im worried about my gpa too.
i got about 6 Bs total in my freshman year and it brings down my uw gpa to about a 3.65 from like a 3.8 or 3.85
