Has anyone heard from Rose-Hulman yet? My S applied in the begining of November and has not heard anything. He called and was told that his application is complete and under review. Any idea how long they take to decide?

My recollection from last year is that they let about 3 weeks after they receive all parts of the application... good luck!!

What I meant is they let you know after about 3 weeks... (left out a few words....)

I suppose it is a bad sign that my son's application has been complete six weeks now and no response??? He even called to check to make sure they had everything, and they did.

I would not necessarily say that is a bad sign... My experience w RH administration is that sometimes things take longer than the original plan, but since he checked and they had everything, you've done all you can.. just be patient and wait a bit longer... if his stats are in the ballpark, they may be taking their time bc they want to get the right mix of students for next years class...

Actually, with both of you (2sonmama and planetree) having not yet heard, it makes sense that they are just taking longer than they originally planned.... Hey, you haven't been told "no" yet, so that's a good thing!!!
good luck.

...a couple of weeks ago I received a letter from them asking for my first marking period grades. And that was right at the three week mark from my initial mailing.

Next week will be three weeks from when I mailed my ist marking period grades.

I was accepted at the beginning of November. They sent the decision just about three weeks after everything was complete or maybe even a little sooner. Part of that might be because I attended Operation Catapult over the summer so they had a good portion of my application since July. It's also a busy time for admissions in general right now so I'd guess that they might be a bit backed up. Good luck getting in everyone!

S was accepted early October. I think it took 1-2 weeks after app was complete.

S received letter yesterday deferring decision and asking for 1st semester grades which will be end of January. And the waiting will continue.....

perhaps in part they are waiting to see how large the class will be... by which I mean how many of those they accept that actually decide to attend.... I do know my student- who is a very hard worker to begin with- is finding the work load to be very significant... so make sure you're ready for it!!!! Once again, good luck to all.

I sent in my application in September, sent in my October SAT IIs, and got a decision at the beginning of November. Right now, I think they're processing all of those applicants who decided to take advantage of waived application fees before December 1st. Just relax and enjoy the holidays! :) The acceptance rate is about 70%-80% so you shouldn't worry too much.

Summer,
Thanks for your info. My S will have to wait for end of January to submit 1st semester grades, then wait for adcom again. I see you are off to Rice, good luck there, staying close to home. My S wants to go far away. He has also applied to Harvey Mudd and a number of Big Ten schools, far from home in NJ.

I sent in my application about 2 weeks ago and was notified yesterday. However, I know quite a few people on the admissions council becasue I went to the summer program.

My D got into Rose; heard fairly quickly after applying. ANyone know anything about scholarships they offer? Do they offer anything at all?

I applied right around that Dec 1st time and recieved an acceptance letter on christmas eve. It was nice to get into a good school like this after being flat out rejected ED at Harvey Mudd. That was not a good feeling. o also when I emailed them to make sure everything was complete they told me that it was in review and that it usually takes about 10 days from that point. Good luck for all of you who are still waiting for 1st semester grades to get in. If you have any questions just let me know you can PM me if you would like. I don't know much about the school so if someone that does know more about it would let me know I would love to hear a students oppinion on the school.

Anybody expecting any merit aid? Thanks.

I can expect(!) but don't know how much they give or if they give any.

I'm a freshman civil major here at Rose. Obviously it's an academically challenging place to be, but as I've found out you'll get used to it real fast. One major contrast that I found out between high school and Rose is that you're surrounded by people with pretty much the same interests if you're truly into engineering. All the professors Ive had so far were pretty good, and the class sizes are like high school. Overall Rose is a good place to be if you're up to the challenge.

thanks for that info...do they give out scholarships?
