I’ll bring the Klondike bars…
Have you been to visit Emory? If you haven’t gone, based on our visit, they are definitely holistic in their application review (as opposed to the schools that say they are, but don’t really consider applicants below certain standards). If your ECs are as interesting as they seem, they’ll definitely give you a chance. They care about academic rigor as well, so they’ll look beyond the gpa.
@higheredrocks I’m hoping I’ll be able to push through and I’ve been planning on EDing Emory, however the average WGPA of students admitted to Emory from my school is a 3.9, so I’m a little anxious.
Also, do you guys think I will stand a chance at Rochester?
My brother had a 3.7WGPA (4 APs total) and a 2070 SAT, and he got admitted to U of R with a $10k Dean’s choice scholarship.
I’m wondering if I should aim there if I can receive potential $10k+ scholarships, but I’m not sure if my GPA will qualify.
And I’ve also heard and read that Rochester neither recommends nor considers GPA. Is this true? Do you believe I will be qualified for a similar scholarships, and for how much?
UofR and Syracuse are legit for you.
There’s conflicting information about what Rochester looks for.
Here’s what they say on their Admissions page:

OTOH, here’s what’s logged in the Common Data Set (which doesn’t make sense, given the above).
