Did anyone get a likely letter who was deferred during ED? Or did everyone who got a likely letter apply RD?

The whole point of likelies is to get outstanding applicants excited about Dartmouth. If they wanted you, they would've taken you during ED so it wouldn't make much sense for them to send you one now... unless of course you managed to cure cancer in the past two months

Defers don't get likely letters

really former SI? is this true for all schools or only dmouth

Deferred people don't get likelies at any school..not just dartmouth.

K thanks. I wonder why

My friend got one early March last year. So we still have hope. (And I really do hope they received my peer rec and my late January Intel update).

Gaah.

No interview. No likely letter, and I submitted in November.

I'm going to explode by May 1st. I'm the world's most indecisive person, and I'm going to have about a month to decide where I"m going (and to visit all the schools I get accepted to)

Same with me schmivy; I have had no interview or likely letter, and I actually submitted in October!

yeah, i was ready to apply ED but because of financial constraints, my parents didn't let me. so i still sent in my app mad early.

As many people mentioned how early you sent in your app doesn't matter with likely letters (as long as it was by Jan 1st). However, how early your school stuff made it in does make a slight difference.

good point, i hadn't considered that. the whole application has to be complete before they begin to process it.

Does anyone know what the waves are based on, then?

I got a likely letter today! I live in CA, so I guess it just took a really long time to get here, because it was dated Feb. 12th. Wow, I am so surprised and happy. My stats:
SAT: 2330 (800M, 800W, 730CR)
SAT II: 800 Bio, Chem, Math II, 730 in US History
Rank: 4/500, GPA: 4.0/4.67
EC's: Mock Trial (very involved, State Champs, on the National Team, Captain), Cross Country Captain, Track, Math Club President, Research at UCSB, lots of other science things, etc.
Essays: I guess they were pretty good. Kind of quirky, fun (I wrote about my cross country shorts). I liked them.
Recs: 2 really great rec, said things like best ever in 10 years of teaching, from teachers who knew me for a while

hey thykingdomcome -- how do you know your fin aid package if you just got a likely letter?

(Congrats btw!)

Hahah, I've been jumping around the house going "I got into Dartmouth!" (complete with a little cheer. :D You got financial aid with your likely letter, thykingdomcome? Did you already submit your IDOC and everything?

You can find my awards and extracurriculars somewhere on CC. The awards aren't too outstanding (though I was accepted to TASP), and my ec's were pretty good (started my own nonprofit organization, etc.). Lots of job experience too (I've been working since freshman year).

Essays: my short response was genuinely pretty bad (very cliche), but I rather liked my long essay until I reread it a zillion times during proofreading and got sick of it. lol.

Teacher Recs: pretty amazing.

I was pretty surprised though because I'm pretty positive they hadn't gotten my interview evaluation yet (I had my interview on the 10th).

well i got my financial stuff today. it came separately. and i agree with thykingdomcome, dartmouth is really generous.

Everyone who got a likely letter should go to the Class of 2011 website: http://2011.dartmouth.edu/

:]

just got a likely letter today, an incredible relief after being deferred from Penn ED. I am so grateful to Dartmouth for removing this burden.
Im nothing special, btw..2300 SAT, 3.8 UW GPA, good ECs, white male from NY no hooks
