Well I applied to SB, SD, Irvine, LA and Berkeley.

Here are my stats:

Major: Econ
No TAG
Prereqs: Complete
IGETC: Complete
64 Units by end of spring
EC/ Work Experience: volunteer at hospital, business analyst intern @ IB/consulting firm

This thread may be a bit premature since I still have yet to hear from SB, but I've been rejected from all the others so far.

No clue as to how I should break it to my mom or what excuse I should come up with for being rejected. Fun.

Probably gonna appeal SD and Irvine though.

You failed to post your GPA. What is it?

You didnt put the most important factor of admission decisoins…your GPA.

Oh crap sorry haha. I didn’t realize I didn’t post it. GPA is 3.15.

To be fair, you did apply to UCLA and UC Berkley , with a 3.15 . Hmm
Well did you get waitlisted at least , did you apply to any CSU’s as back-ups .
I got into half the UC’s I applied to , but I went for the less competitive ones .

Good luck, I think CSU Northridge might still take a few late transfer applications, since at the end of the day most people have to go to grad school now and It would be better to go to a college thats less then your first choice then to be stuck at community college for another year( at least the way I think about it) .

3.17 psych. Waiting on uci sb

Haha realistically I knew LA and Berkeley were out of the question, but I’ve seen some people with low GPA’s get accepted so I figured it was worth a shot.

As for the others such as SB, SD, and Irvine, I figured I should have a chance for at least one of them considering that I have all my prereqs and IGETC classes done, as well as work experience related to my major.

Unfortunately I have no backup schools, so I’m going to appeal for now, and if that doesn’t work, then I guess another year of CC.

why didnt you apply to UCSC or Riverside or Merced?

Yeah i was rejected from d sd and la. I’m scared I’m going to be in the same boat. Except I’m a 4 year

@poserbruin

I could have gone to Riverside or Merced straight out of high school, but opted against that since I figured transferring from a CC would help me towards acceptance to a better UC.

I have a good appeals essay that I’m working on that I’m sure will at least get me into Irvine or SD. I’m aware that only a small percentage of appeals go through, but I think I’ll make this work. or I can hope that SB comes through.

Look into TAG with UCSD or TAP for UCLA-- but TAP is losing it’s weight these days. Step up your game by increasing your GPA, and this time next year you might be accepted.

+1 on the TAG program.

I can almost ensure you that through TAG you’ll get accepted with that GPA and they will NOT read your essays. I geared my essay towards CAL, with whom I had no TAG and ALL of the TAGs I did lead to admission letters from UCI, UCD, UCSC, UCSB, and UCSD. I applied with a 3.34 as some form of English major.

Best of luck! I think with that GPA and all of your requirements for TAG and IGETC completed, you should at least be able to get into UCSB and UCI (appeal). If it comes down to it, then you would stay another year at CC to raise your chances but that doesn’t seem bad at all.

Rejected from Ucla, Cal, and UCSD (waitlisted)
