Anyone getting an iPad tomorrow?

Iono if it would be that useful or not for school, but i think i saw a review where it said making simple documents and powerpoints (or keynote) was easy to do with the iPad. They're only selling the wi-fi versions tomorrow so hopefully all the UCs have good wifi.

I wish I had 400 extra dollars. iPad looks sweet though

It’s $500 and making documents on it may be better than making them on a phone, but probably still worse than making them on a laptop.

It’s primary use will be for media consumption, and it will perform that task better than a laptop because of the sleek form and interface. If a wide range of textbooks become available on the platform, I might buy one.

It’s not useful in any way at all! Want a bigger screen with better gaming capabilities? use your laptop. Want increased portability, a touchscreen, wifi, and 3g? use an iphone. Want to experience touchscreen gaming on a bigger screen? No. You don’t need a bigger screen, just use an iphone.

Yup, pretty much no reason to buy. Oh right, I forgot one thing. Want to read an ebook? Buy a kindle! Reading any book on a screen like the ipad’s blows - the eink on the kindle is the only practical electronic solution for books. But really, just buy paper books :)

Hoping for an iAcceptance tomorrow.

im saving my money for the Macbook Pro refresh.

Me too, Jane! I’m waiting for the new core series of Intel processors (32nm process). I want to colorware it though, which is expensive.

ColorWare

those colorwares are awesome!!! and the alien ware or whatever…those are cool too.
but i have a problem with dell.

i want the i5 or i7 chip and Macbook pro hasnt had a refresh in awhile, so i am hoping they come out soon.

Yeah, they haven’t refreshed because there are licensing issues with the new Intel processors and the current chipset used by Apple. The Nvidia chipset is superior to Intel’s offering but Intel won’t license the ability to interface with their new CPUs to Nvidia, so Mr. Jobs is likely having a hard time deciding whether to ditch Nvidia’s chipset or coming up with a workaround. Soon, I hope. My MacBook is aging.

yeah thats my issue with Dell the Nvidiawhatever crashed on windows and it just gives alot of people crap.

but on the Macbook Pro jobs would see mo’ money if he went with the new intel processors. he would have my money for sure.

Yeah, but the low-end models would take a graphics performance hit, so it’s a complicated upgrade. It’ll come soon. I can’t decide between the 15" or the 17". If I colorware it, I might be forced to go with the 15" because of the additional cost.

i wish i was one of those nerds who know how to build their own computer. i tried researching on how to do it, cuz i like to do things myself BUT the cost is just too much, might as well get something already made.

i want speed, thats mainly my need. i hate waiting for slow crap i have too many things to do and i have a short attention span.

15" man. 17" just means your compensating…haha kidding. Seriously though, I am definitely holding out for the mbp running off the arrandale 32nm.
edit: jane it actually costs less if u build one yourself…usually. hahah

in general for units <$300 it’s cheaper to buy a premade.
for laptops you’re more or less forced into premades.
for gamers and power users, going the DUY route works

xelink- thank you.

yeah i want a laptop and the body alone costs so much.

oh… a laptop. haha no dont build one. way too expensive. impractical. i thought we were talking towers. hahah

The apps for it will make all the difference. [Josh (and the iPad) on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon! – Engadget](Josh (and the iPad) on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon!)

No flash = no buy!

A lot of sites are making HTML5 equivalents just for the iPad. Most major media sites have done so, including YouTube, Vimeo, CNN, NYTimes, etc. But I agree, no flash is an issue; I don’t blame that issue on Apple though, Flash runs terribly on anything but Windows.

All I can think of is Modern Family hahah
