<p>May I ask: why don't you do them the courtesy and tell them you will decline their generous offer? They could probably then focus on someone else who may really value the opportunity? Yes they are courting you but why not communicate your intention?</p>
<p>Sorry for not stating more clearly: I am very receptive to such offers. In fact, for the part of the letter where you say why d did not pick the college, we had planned on telling them the reason d did not accept was because of money (the truth). I just did not know quite how to say it ...</p>
<p>basically I have discovered that there is a virtual second phase to the admissions process WITHOUT BEING ON A WAITLIST. </p>
<p>In fact, d said NO at this time to 4 colleges where she knew for sure she would not go.</p>
<p>I have heard nothing of this on cc or wherever.</p>
