Hey there guys! It's been awhile since I posted here.
Anyway, summer's coming up - is anybody going a summer music camp/program this year? I've auditioned for Kinhaven and Interlochen, and I was wondering if anybody else is going places this year!

S is auditioning for Eastern Music Festival

My d will be attending OCU’s voice / opera program.

DD is going to Bel Canto in Florence this summer.

Is anybody familiar with the Salzberg Mozarteum summer program?

I don’t know a lot about the Mozarteum program, but I had some friends that went there and they seemed to like it. I actually had one friend who got along so well with her professor over the summer, she transferred there to continue studying in the fall. :)

Thanks, Franci!

Has anyone gotten the results from any summer music festivals yet? Just trying to get an idea of when notifications are going out–“early March” or “sometime in March” always leaves us wondering.

Clarimom, last year my D heard from BUTI on March 23. Oh, the waiting is the hardest part ;-)

I’m sure it must vary with the program, but we heard any time from March 1 through March 31 last year.

Yes, that was about the timespan for us last year as well. We find it helpful though to see which places people are currently hearing from so we know notifications are in progress.

I agree, I like to see when people are accepted. I look forward to watching this thread!

Daughter received notification today from BUTI re wind ensemble. But she was notified because of acceptance on two instruments and asked to choose, so that everyone can be notified next week re admittance.

Son (cellist) was accepted to Bowdoin yesterday.

D has applied to both Brevard and IU strings academy. Acceptances are expected at the end of the month.

I got accepted to Interlochen Vocal Arts this weekend. It’s the first year of this program, combining VSS and Choral Arts. I didn’t apply for financial aid, but got a small merit scholarship. That’s a great way to start off acceptances! BUTI says on their website that if you do not hear about admission by the 21st, you should contact their offices. I’ve also applied to Oberlin and NYU programs, and I’ll find out about those in April.

accepted at Meadowmount in studio of Gerardo Ribeiro’s studio. is it hard to get in ? They only awarded me 1000 scholarship :(

^That’s way better than a $0 scholarship!

waitlisted at Music Academy of the West… but I don’t think I could get off the list. No one would turn down offers from such a good festival… :(

Glad to see someone auditioning for Kinhaven! It’s not hugely well known, but I went there last year as a pianist and got the strong impression that the orchestra program was very good - the guest conductors (a new one each week along with new rep) were generally quite excellent. I found that the chamber music was not quite on par with the orchestral playing, unfortunately (and ironically - the place is based on chamber ensembles, really). The orchestra is so good, however, that I think it makes up for it.

I had some personality disconnect problems with the piano teachers (and others… well, let’s not get into that), but literally 99% of the people there and everyone I’ve ever talked to has loved it to death, so I think my case was unusual. The viola faculty are both good and also considerate people - I had one as a coach in my first-ever chamber music ensemble, actually: he got us playing well and I still enjoyed it thoroughly - a good mix for a coach! It has an intimate atmosphere and gorgeous setting that can be very enjoyable and conducive to both close friendships and efficient work - I had my troubles, but they are my own, and again, everyone else flourished and loves the place… as long as you don’t get sick of seeing the same people for six weeks!

I myself am applying to a bunch of places this summer; a few long ones, a few mid-length ones, and a few short ones! Perhaps the balance is a little too shifted towards the southern states (ugh, southern summers!), but oh well, there are some very good ones down here!

Brevard, Eastern, Indiana University Piano Academy, Adamant Music School, Southeastern Piano Festival, Texas State International Piano Festival.

Going to have a busy summer, in all likelihood!
