I was just wondering if anyone else is going. If anyone has gone in previous years was it helpful?

My D and I just returned this evening from this event and I am very glad that we attended.
It was our first ever visit and the campus is really beautiful and immaculate.
The program was extremely well organized and we had presentations from both current students and all of the deans of the various colleges.
Despite the huge size of this school, there really seemed to be a sincere interest in making the Honors Program a very intimate and personal experience. It did seem to be a small liberal arts college within a major university and the resources available are pretty hard to surpass.
My D is very impressed, as am I and even though the size is overwhelming for her, she is definitely considering it.
Her main concern is the Greek system there,as she really wants to rush but keeps hearing that if you are not a legacy, you have to be tall, blond and drop dead gorgeous to get into a sorority there.
I told her she could be a token short brunette (I of course think she is beautiful!) but that did not appease her!

I think that used to be true in the past, but my daughter has alot of friends who are not legacies in sororites. From what I have heard, they are looking at grades as a major factor too.

We went as well and just got back late last night. We were very impressed with the program that was presented. Their was a student panel who described their experiences at UA and how fare they have came, all of the deans were on a panel to answer questions and provided valuable information. The dean of the Honors College Dean Halli was outstanding. He met with my son for an hour the day before asking him questions and answering any my son had.

We came away with the feeling that UA really does provide the opportunity for a very close relationship with the professors and has outstanding undergraduate research opportunities.
