I looked at the MIT's school report thing. They ask the counselors to put wether is the school have AP English, Languages, History and whether the students have taken any.

I thinked back, Everyone from my school that got in had all of those on top of the math and science APs.

Because of my extracurricular and how hard APs are at my school, there a very limited number of AP classes I can handle ( those classes have about 1.5- 2 hours of hw a day if not more(just to get an idea of the APUSH class that people took this year. There were hours of brain consuming hw. Most of the test questions aren't even mentioned in the book. the highst people get on the test is about 80%, the it is curved to that. There is always this 2 people that does super well and made it curve 20% harder than the year before. Person with B, C borderline grade could get a 5 on the AP test easily)). I'll be taking some CC math and physics classes, just won't have any AP English, Languages, History. I was going to takea Ap language class this year, but it was at the same time afterschool as my AP stats classes, and if i don't take AP stats, i wouldn't have a math class junior year. However, this year they won't have the class because not enough people pass the placement test to take it.

my question is: has any one gotten in without AP English, Languages, History when their school offered it? And is it really bad if I don't take any? should i bother giving up my math and physics class at CC to take one?

I just fear that doing only what makes me happy will hurt my chances.
For me, I rather take 2 math/science classes then spending hours for a class that I won't love as much. However, I feel the experience in the AP English class especially can be very helpful in college.
But thanks everyone for the support!

coolphreak: Sorry my English is bad. I don't really check things I post on the internet ( AIM and forums), so there are always lots of typos and grammar errors. I spoken Chinese for 11 years before I started learning English, so I am often too lazy to check the grammar for the things I post on the internet. But don't worry, my English teachers loved me. I don't know about this year's, but last year's kept every single projected I did for the class as an example for future classes.

I took AP level history, but didn't sit for the test. Never took AP English, and did the same thing as you are considering my senier yr. If you don't do AP English and get 5's on both tests (which it sounds like you could do), you have to take the FEE this summer (which is easy enough- but who want to do homework during the summer?), and risk having less options for your HASS your freshman year. It's not that big a deal, but remember that there're some pretty cool math/science courses at MIT too ;) , on the other hand- if I could go back, I still wouldn't take AP english, because the class I took instead was really fun. just my 2 cents

there is a lot of summer hw for AP English. I am sure it's still a bit less than FEE.
I kinda need the math class since I took calc BC sophomore year and only took stats last year. So I need more mathy math >.<. and Physics is just cool like that.
