anyone got the acceptance from stony brook for regular decision 2013

@Em1994: If Stony Brook is truly your first choice, work for it. Continue bring your grades up. I would say GPA90/SAT1900 will get you in for sure. You have few more chances to raise your SAT scores. Good Luck!

@HxCkhaos: I think you will get in. You should not worry too much! I can see acceptance is coming soon for you!

@Kittycat1234: Your GPA & SAT put you in the 50/50 chance line. If you are URM, you will most likely get in. Otherwise, decision can get go either way. Best of Luck!

I applied in August and I still haven’t heard…
Gpa: 96 weighted
Sat: 1790 (490 cr I know it sucks, 690 math, 610 writing)
Act:25
Good essay and lots of extra curriculars
I also took the bio and math 1 sat2

kkurklen, My D is in the same boat as you. She applied Oct and has not heard a thing. She has very similar credentials, except a higher GPA. But ACT/SAT/EC’s/SAT II’s almost same. And I went there myself. I truly believe they put a ton of weight on the SAT/ACT. Good luck…we should know soon enough but the wait is painful.

Son got an email on receiving the Presidential award at Stony brook. Tuition and fees are covered.

Sat-2230
ACT- 34
Top 1% of class
Lots of AP’s
EC are high level trumpet player
Track and cross country.

Applied in December, still haven’t heard… worried.

I wonder why Stony brook takes a long time to make decisions for some of us?

I’m getting nervous too! I sent in my application right after Hurricane Sandy when my school finally got back up and running. I also used the SUNY application. SB confirmed that my file had been completed 11/30. I keep checking solar but no updates. Also, SB never asked me for my mid year grades but guidance automatically sends them out to all the colleges you applied to at my school.

I submitted my app mid-Jan and received my acceptance letter today! :)

Where do you see your acceptance notifaction? Is it through your personal email or on the SUNY portal with your application process? What about rejections? Is it the same thing?

Friday march 15th,
Still waiting on the magic letter, i really want to get in but at this point just not knowing is driving me crazy.
should i expect to see a change on solar first or get a letter?

<16 days left>

Another day of no word. I have a theory since I have seen a lot of people get rejected and accepted already to Stony Brook. The last notifications will be the wait list. I haven’t seen any of those yet.

Nothing in today’s mail, No mail on Sundays This is killing me

When you get accepted your solar homepage would change. It happened to me and my friends who got in. The ones who have not heard anything back yet hasn’t changed.

Yep we definitely got waitlisted. like wuttt

Ugh, I think I’ve been wait listed from 3 colleges, including stony brook.

The rock, what changes in the solar?

I figure they would notify us if we actually got wait listed, wouldn’t they?

my theory is that stony brook would notify waitlisted students after all seats are filled, and because the fact that none of us have received a notification of waitlist, it must mean there are still some spots left. idk… just my opinion.

what exactly would being wait-listed mean?

MJS it means you aren’t accepted and you aren’t flat out denied. You are offered a place on a waiting list and after May 1st when everyone has commited to a college, students on the wait list may be offered a spot in the entering class. But there are no guarantees anyone or how many will be offered a spot. I don’t know Stony Brook’s recent statistics in that area. It also means you have to send a non refundable deposit to another school that you will lose if you decide to accept a spot at Stony Brook after May 1st. Yes, they will notify you just like they would an acceptance or denial.

Thanks @therock675. I wasn’t sure what was going on. I havent heard anything from Stony Brook, but New Paltz (the 2nd SUNY Ive applied to) sent me a application tracker link that I can make a account to track my application status.
