rrr i'm so mad i had to register for session B and i seriously just got the info today. its not fair that session A is all ED people... in the meantime facebook has to transfer my account. waits

There is absolutely no reason why A is better, other than the date may work better for you.

When I did my overnight, it was implied that those with the earlier session got better registration (unless you're e-school and then they make up your schedule for you).

i sent in my deposit on wednesday and i called the office today (Monday, April 17) and they said it was received and in the computer. When should i expect to get an email address? and how will i know?

Wow so anyone who knows my name can get my home number? Ew, creepy. Can I change that??

You can change the number on ISIS. (virginia.edu/isis/ - don't expect it to work in the middle of the night) Be aware you do want to keep it to something accurate. If you're just against it shown, see below (however, do note, that this is a fairly standard practice)
System should also update itself with up to date numbers at certain times. I.e. once you get your housing assignment this will switch to your local dorm number.
Furthermore, the information on the people search is annually published into a printed phone directory. The deadline to change your information for the current year's release is sometime in august/september.

Finally, if you want to opt-out of people search in general or something in particular, you can have a privacy flag placed on your student record. To do this you will need to visit the appropriate office (off top of my head I would say carruthers hall) and turn in a written request. You can opt-out of your name appearing in people search, (if I'm not mistaking) something particular such as a phone number on people search, and the strictest flag in which basically the school declines to even verify if you're enrolled or not to anyone.

Thanks, I guess it won't matter once it's the dorm number but having my home number where anyone who knows I'm going to UVA can find it is just slightly... Unnerving, you know?

dont have my uva email account yet... they said its 48 hours min from the time they input your reply form and up to a week in delay due to lag...

hazelorb...anyone who knows your name can not only look up your phone number if they know your name, but they can look up your ADDRESS too. It's called a phone book. Or a website like www.switchboard.com . I'd watch my back if I were you.

...People at my school have my phone number. I meant random strangers on the net who just happen to know my name and school. Sure people who are looking can find info, but UVA makes it REALLY EASY. That's all I meant. No need to be mean to me.

A lot of schools have things like that though...it's not just a UVA thing. I understand your worry though, but I don't think you'll have problems since all of UVA's students have had their info up for years. If the school had a lot of problems, they probably wouldn't be putting your info up.
