Anyone gotten Honors Program notification?

I emailed the school recently, and they said that Sandy had delayed their process a little bit, but they should start getting to the Honors Program apps soon. I'm pretty much an auto-admit, but I just want to know that I've gotten in because I'll probably be going to RU.

Also, how is one notified? Do they send an email, do you have to check the "Your Rutgers Status" page, or do they send something in the mail?

Thanks so much!

I don’t know about the other schools, but SAS sent D an e-mail and also a letter about honors about a week ago. There is nothing on the status page about it.

Yeah, same. I got notified via email exactly a week ago.

S also got an email and a letter last weekend for SAS honors. He was delighted – even though SOE is his top choice, Computer Science and Statistics are close behind, so he said he could see switching to SAS. Still nothing on scholarships.

Scholarship notifications come in about a month or two after admission notification. At least that’s how it was for me.

I applied on 11/20 nd sent my SAT scores(2240) on 11/26 was admitted SAS + SEBS on 11/27. I haven’t recd. any Honors notification.

My son was invited to apply to the SOE honors program (last year) sometime in February I think, and the deadline for apps was sometime early March. He wasn’t notified of honors acceptance until March 28 (and he had gotten a Pres Scholarship for SOE).

bgmargate – given your SAT scores, unless you have a GPA under 3.0, or are convicted felon, or you professed your love for Syracuse in your Rutgers essay, I think you’ll be getting positive news about the SAS honors program in the near future! ;-)

Thx mtown. FYI my GPA is W=4.4, UW= 4.0. And I can’t even spell Siracuse.

If my son applied to SAS and Engineering at the end of October. He was accepted 5 days later at the beginning of November. He has not heard about honors yet, so does this mean he has been passed over for this program? I think it does, but I can’t get anyone at Rutgers to confirm this. I don’t really care all that much either way, but just want to know so he is not waiting for a letter in the mail every day. That is the worst feeling!

It is so hard to wait, but maybe your S is just still in the queue. My D applied 10/16, was accepted 10/23 to SAS and SEBS, and recieved SAS honors notification by mail/e-mail 11/30. So your turn should be coming soon, though perhaps it takes them longer as you move further into the app cycle and apps are pouring in. She hasn’t heard from SEBS, but they have a very involved process for entrance to honors, interview day with essay writing in the late winter. I don’t know when Engineering notifies, but according to their honors page:

[The Honors Academy | Rutgers University School Of Engineering](http://soe.rutgers.edu/oaa/honors)

you need to score ‘high enough’ on Rutgers math placement to get in. I suppose they tell kids that when they are invited. All the other criteria for consideration are on the page.

For SAS there seems to be an appeal procedure if they don’t invite you.

As I said above, my son was invited to apply to the SOE honors program (last year) sometime in February, and the deadline for honors apps was sometime early March (you had to fill out a form for SOE honors).

He wasn’t notified of honors acceptance until March 28 and he had already gotten a Pres Scholarship for SOE. I think they just get backlogged processing all of the information.
