Does anyone from Madison has a checking account and credit card from Anchor Bank, US Bank or Home Savings?? are they good? ...are any of them a good option for undergraduate college student???

Don't worry about any specific U.S. bank's reputation. Consider LOCATION of branches, ease of use of TYME (cash) machines and credit card interest rates. Any local bank is as good as any other as far as merchants are concerned, your biggest problem could be paying fees for using another bank's ATM. All U. S. banks are insured by the Federal government so you don't have to worry about losing your money. Regulations also cover the credit card industry but you need to read the fine print regarding payment dates and interest rates. Check out the other banking thread- choices are based on convenience, not worries about security of funds. If possible try to get your check numbers starting at 200 or 500 instead of 1; this makes it appear as though you've had the account longer.

I still vote for the UW Credit Union since they have such a massive presence on campus and in Madison itself. The more services you use the more benefits you get, and their student Visa has an almost unheard of 9.9% APR (whereas most people with limited or no credit history get 18.9%+ APR).
