what did you do? what did you choose?

are you happy with your decision?

I'm a Communication Sciences and Disorders major.

Honestly, I have no idea what I want to do. I'd love to be a music therapy major because I love music, but I don't have the talent for it. I would have loved to go into the medical field but all of that chemistry and math would kill me.

I'm on the fence as to if I'm happy with my decision. I just don't know :-/

rightcoastsurf, what year are you in? If you are a fresh/sophmore i don't think you should be that worried. Im sure you can choose what interests you now and then change later one if you find another path tahts right for you.

im a 5th semester jr college student, transferring into a 4yr in january

Majors don't really prepare you for careers, unless you're an engineer. So pick something you enjoy, is convenient, or maybe even somewhat practical. I think your choice of career is more important, which is often unrelated to your major (unless you're an engineer).

ahh ic, what's your career plans? engineer? business? medicine?

Ed major here. I've wanted to teach since preschool, so it was a no-brainer.

I'm in biomedical engineering as of now, but I'm pretty sure that I don't want to be an engineer. Since I had thought for so long that I wanted to be a BME it was really tough for me at first to admit to myself that I hate engineering even though I'm doing well in it...but yeah.

Anyway, I'll probably be switching after next quarter (just to give engineering a fair chance) to business with a minor in music. I just don't think I can do the same thing for the next 40 years and business will give me more freedom to figure all that out.

I'm a political science major. I switched from chem and I'm really happy with my decision. I chose it because I absolutely love politics. I'm planning to work in politics in some capacity.

I had no idea what to choose with my major until application time came around, and I ended up choosing journalism. I'd written for a few online fan publications at that time, and enjoyed it and knowing my stuff was out there for people to read, so I figured why not.

I'm currently happy with my decision, I've gotten a couple articles published in the school paper already. I have to have an outside emphasis, so I'm choosing creative writing for that, since I like to write fiction stories as well. My plans are currently to write for a paper or magazine, or maybe be a book editor.

I Think That I Will Major In English. But I'm A Little Scared About Job Prospects.

Im a Comp Sci major...Chose it becuz I liked math and already had good programming experiences. I seem to be happy with it as of now.

I chose my major (government) because so many of the classes in the Gov department appealed to me immediately. Classes in the other departments did not appeal to me nearly as much. I thought I'd go with my instincts :)

I'm an illustration major.

Mechanical Engineering. I like cars. I like planes. I like bombs.

Also, the money out of school is good, and one doesn't need to go through some ridiculous recruiting process as in banking. ME has lots of options for other careers and it always has a bit of 'oomph' if you get a decent gpa and want to go to grad school.

physics. i love understanding how things work. especially astrophyics

Political Science. At the beginning of high school, I had never had any really great English or history classes and wanted to major in physics. By the end of high school, I was absolutely in love with the humanities and social sciences. Just to make sure I didn't want to major in physics, I took PHYS 111. I hated it. My favorite class was my political science class. I'm still up in the air, though. I think I might double with philosophy.

For the record, at the moment I want to write for the Economist when I'm older, but that didn't influence my major.

always liked math classes and figured I would probably major in math or follow my dads footsteps in Civil ENgineering.
THen I got to online gaming, and on a tight budget I decided to build a computer on a whim. This evolved into a computer repair business and now im planning on going into computer engineering at UIUC. Finally weaned from online games and no idea if i want to stick with computers, but its what I do, and its hard to pick one of the other majors when I know I have put so much into computer work. Its tough picking majors, knowing how much it can affect things...

History... I knew I had the passion for history when I was actually learning/savoring over the materials (instead of STUDYING hard-core) for my AP exam in 10th grade... haha. I was just really fascinated by all the rise and falls of empires and states in Euro history and how the past influences us today.

So yeah, now I'm a history major who actually tried other fields in her first year (7 out of 8 courses were not in the history department!) and decided that history was the best.

If I was good at everything, I'd do physics... it's so cool to see how the world works, which is why i took astronomy in my first year!

nyskins what was that political science class which was your favorite?
