Should I be worried about getting admitted into Foster? I have a 3.5 in Econ 200, 3.7 in Engl 198 and I have AP credit for Math 124, so I might apply as a EAG applicant. I'm taking Econ 201, Stat 311 and Engl 131 next quarter. I plan to take Acctg 215 during the summer so I can apply for Foster during fall quarter. And if it matters, on the application for Foster it says states that you should mention if you are a First Generation College Student and I am one whose parents immigrated from Asia.

I know that to get into UW they definitely care about if you are first generation or not. Don’t know if Foster looks at it the same way but this shows that you have gone through adversity and can preform near the same level as people whose parents had an education. I would emphasis this in your essay. Be specific and tell them your personal story and who you are. Good luck.

if you do well in acctg 215 & 225, that will increase your chance of getting admitted. I don’t know about EAG but the average for UAG 2009 Fall is 4.2 WSA, 3.5/3.6 GPA. As a UAG, there is 60% chance that you will be admitted solely on your GPA and 40% on your personal essay. The average admission GPA between 2003-2005 is around a 3.4/3.6.
