Interested in the Education program - looks close to beaches too!

The College is academically pretty solid. SAT's are good... If you like city schools, you'll like this one. I mean, you're walking through downtown streets and cars are driving through your campus. (Typical of a city school.) Yeah, the beaches are roughly 15-20 min. away (the harbor's about 3 min. away). Like always in a city school, crime is an issue (although it's not as bad at COC as it is at other city schools), and there isn't much campus housing. Everyone I know who goes there likes it, though, so I would definitely visit it. (I personally don't know much about the Education department.)

Charleston is an amazing city. It is one of the most historic and beautiful cities in the country. As for C of C, it is one of the oldest colleges in the country.

This school is on a thread for "bottom 50" schools, but it seems more competive than that (3.78 GPA). Anyone know what the chances are ?

I don't know what this other person is talking about c of c being in a bottom 50, but the college of charleston itself is featured in top 341 universities in the nation, it's also been ranked as a top college city, and the education program was featured in seventeen magazine along with 2 other schools for its education program! The education program here is amazing and most of the faculty in the education program are great people as well! I think it's a great choice. This comes from a student who was a ed major.

yeah, it does seem competitive...must be "bottom 50" to the HYPS crowd!
