Anyone Have Any Questions About Chapman?

<p>Here’s the link to their vocal music.

<p>I did look at the website, but I was looking for some info from students on what their perception is. Some websites make things seem better than they really are. But thank you for the link!</p>

<p>I’ve heard great things about their music programs. Here’s an example of one of the students.

<p>I know Chapman has a really good baseball team (went to the D-III college world series last year), and there is also a football team, lacrosse team, etc. Do students support the teams? Is the football stadium packed on game days?</p>

<p>Yes, the students and families do support the teams. The stadium can be quite packed during their football home games, but usually if you show up early, you can still find some good seats with excellent view. The Chapman students with ID cards get in free.</p>

<p>what is the computer science program like at Chapman?</p>

<p>Not sure if the OP is checking his thread, but to give you a general idea about their computer science program, read my post #224 on this thread. My friend raved about it, so I’m just passing it along.</p>

<p>Looks like Chapman is also adding new major and minor to their programs according to the Panther News:</p>

<p>New major and minor available

<p>Students still in search of a major or minor will have a new option. The Faculty Academic Council approved an Italian studies minor last month and a software engineering major is in the approval process.
The minor will be included in the languages department of the Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences while the major will be in the School of Computational Sciences in the Schmid College of Science and Technology.
Students can pursue the minor now, even though it will not appear in the undergraduate catalog until next fall, said Walter Tschacher, chair of the languages department. The software engineering major, however, may be available to students as early as next fall, said Michael Fahy, associate dean of the School of Computational Sciences.</p>

<p>Software engineering major
Fahy first proposed the software engineering major last year because of how common it is at other universities.
“A software engineering program is something that all great universities have,” Fahy said. “We also saw that many Chapman students who graduate with a degree in computer science end up finding a job in software engineering.”
Under the proposed program, students would have to complete 70 credits, 27 coming from lower-division courses, 36 from upper-division courses and one credit coming from a seminar class. The other six credits can come from electives. Six new software engineering classes have been proposed, Fahy said.
Two software engineering faculty members will be hired to replace two retiring faculty members. A search is being conducted for the first professor, who will most likely start next fall. The second search may happen next year, but that is not yet certain. Fahy said he would act as the program’s adviser.
The proposal’s next step is to go through the Long-Range Planning Council of the Faculty Senate, but the date for that meeting is unknown.
Allison Dillon, a senior health sciences major, thinks the major is a good idea.
“Chapman hasn’t really attracted students interested in engineering in the past because there was no program,” Dillon said. “This can only make Chapman more diverse.”</p>

<p>Does the 11/15 deadline mean midnight between 11/14 and 11/15 or does it mean midnight between 11/15 and 11/16?</p>

<p>I believe the latter.</p>

<p>for merit-scholarships, will my senior grades (both 1st AND 2nd semester) grades be included in my gpa?</p>

<p>I believe they count up to junior year because during the application process, students haven’t finished their 1st semester of senior year yet.</p>

<p>RonPaul,
Not sure if you’re addressing your questions to the OP? If you are, you might want to send him a PM. Some of us have been helping out by answering some of the questions on this thread. I’m a parent of a Chapman student. DS admitted to Chapman as a freshman in fall of 2010. Since you’re a transfer student, I suggest you to check with the financial aid office for questions concerning financial aid for transfer student. Based on their link for the cost calculator, it’s only working for the new freshmen, not for the transfer students yet.

<p>Perhaps you can try the College Board’s.
[College</a> Board’s Net Price Calculator - Calculate the Cost to attend a University or College](<a href=“Net Price Calculator (NPC) - Education Professionals”>http://netpricecalculator.collegeboard.org/)</p>

<p>To give you a general idea of Chapman’s merit-aid for transfer students, according to their website, [Chapman</a> University - Admission - For HS Counselors - General Information](<a href=“Page Not Found | Chapman University”>Page Not Found | Chapman University)
their merit-aid for transfer students ranges from $10,000 - $12,000. Also, depending on your major, you may want to look into their talent scholarships to see if you qualify in addition to their grant program. Perhaps you can also look into their work-study program. With that said, to find out whether you can afford it, it’s best for you to speak directly to their financial aid office. BTW, don’t forget to file for FAFSA.</p>

<p>Hi Ocelite,
Thank you for all the info you’ve provided, here and elsewhere. I can’t tell you how helpful it’s been these last 6 months! Our son (am I supposed to call him DS?) submitted his app for Digital Arts on Oct 24th. It’s his first choice, hands down. Also applied to LMU, USC and a few others. But he LOVES Dodge.
Hoping-Hoping for a merit scholarship if he gets accepted: 4.27 GPA (W) and 2300 SAT. He slaved for over a month on his essay for Dodge and tried to make it p-e-r-f-e-c-t. But we know that Dodge is very competitive and getting more so every year. FINGERS CROSSED for wonderful, sweet, talented son!
Sigh…very hard to wait. Any idea when he might hear?
Good luck to everyone!</p>

<p>is it better to send all of my sat scores or only my highest score?</p>

<p>What are G.Es like and anyone know where I can find information on transferring, more specifically a list of classes they look for, for G.Es and major requirements?</p>

<p>@jacefromLA ill give you my input. i’m also planning to transfer, and they follow this plan called ‘IGETC’ plan. so ask your school for the IGETC paper, itll list a bunch of courses you can take. They’re all transferable to Chapman and once you finish plan, you’ll be almost done GE and can focus on your majors.</p>

<p>i emailed a person who works in the Chapman transfer and theyll reply fairly quickly and efficiently.

I passed my high school with 55.5% 2.5 GPA.In my before SAT practice tests i’ve got around 2000 score and a fact is that i passed my chemistry and physics finals on second attempt. I’ve served for around 5-6 months in a NGO as a volunteer. I want to apply for Chapman U in Dodge college for Film Production…
I’ve interest in film making and all.
How do i stack up? Need Help.
Thank You.</p>

<p>I a senior in high school and i really want to attend Chapman University. I want to focus on screenwriting and can anyone tell me how the screenwriting program is? I also want to double major in business, can anyone tell me if Chapman allows undergrads to major in two different schools?</p>

<p>Film and business are the two most competitive majors at chapman. I have never heard of anyone majoring in both at once. Good luck with your attending chapman goals for 2012</p>

<p>firegirl
Alas, I believe the deadline (11/15/11) to apply for any Dodge programs, including screenwriting has passed. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t know about business, though. I suggest you call Chapman or check their website. OCelite, maybe you know?</p>
