Anyone have any studio apartment recommendations?

Hey,

I'm looking for a studio and am willing to sign up to a 15 month lease to get a place for <=1000. I'm willing to live close to wilshire but would prefer being closer to campus. Is anyone living in a studio or apartment building right now that they would recommend?

Thanks so much

I live on Strathmore and Levering.

I currently pay $775/month for a small one bedroom, no kitchen apartment. A one bedroom w/ a kitchen starts at $900/month depending on the size of the room. Judging from the mailboxes without nametags, we have a 25% vacancy.

The contract terms are extremely favourable. The manager signed me up for an initial contract running from September to December. The manager had (verbally) agreed to a second contract that would run from January to June or July but it seems he forgot about the contract renewal and I’ve just been paying month-to-month for a while now.

The apartments are in okay condition. They don’t look the nicest from the outside but I’ve definitely seen a lot worst apartments for the inside. We had new paint and carpeting.

The reason I think this place has such underwhelming performance despite the low price is that the manager is really, REALLY bad. For example, we had set up a viewing appointment and he had been 5 hours late when I first met him. He was 1 hour late the day I signed the contract.

PM me if you want address and details but I believe there are a number of places under $1000 if you know how to shop around. (Under $800 is aggressive pricing, I admit, though.)

Try asking Christian, the manager @ 606 Levering (corner of kelton and levering) where I used to live if he can do something like this for you. I know the studios will be a bit about 1000 (1100?) and junior bedrooms run 1350. Otherwise, live further away from campus but be near a bus line corridor (e.g. westwood blvd & santa monica, etc.)
