We like WP have been using them several years now.
Love that that they introduced competition into a marketplace that had us all in an expensive overpriced stranglehold for glasses.
My daughter and I are both on our second pairs and are very happy with them.
We are lucky to have a brick and mortar location for them in Mpls.
My kids have gotten WP for years and liked them. We have retail WP stores available so that helps. They have pretty simple single vision prescriptions. I need progressives and have steered clear of WP, but have been happy with Costco glasses.
Iâm wearing a pair as we speak.
I had better luck with EyeBuyDirect.
Being highly sensitive to the optics (my ophthalmologist says engineers and lawyers are his most difficult), I still use a local store for regular glasses. Iâve tried a few for prescription sunglasses and EBD was the only one âgood enoughâ that I kept them.
The important thing, and Zenni certainly cleared that hurdle for you, is that they have to be âgood enough.â They arenât all the same, as WP claims, but they donât have to be. Some drive Teslas. I drive a Bolt. Itâs good enough, but Iâm under no illusion that itâs a Tesla.
As for my comment on Italian frames, if you put the last screw in within Italy, it can be labeled as Made in Italy. The vast majority of âItalianâ frames are Chinese, as are all of WP and Zenni.
My family members do not have complicated prescriptions and have purchased their backup pair from WB. I think my husband also bought some sunglasses.
My husband has progressives from them with a fairly simple prescription otherwise and loved them. On the second pair of both daily and sunglasses. I have very complicated prescriptions that generally have to be adjusted multiple times so I have been afraid. Definitely suggest them for simple glasses, even with progressives.
Everyone in our family has at least a couple of pairs of Warbyâs in addition to other glasses. We have had great luck with Warby Parker. We have s store in the mall a mile from our house and they have been great adjusting our glasses as needed. D2 has glasses from EyeBuyDirect too since she likes to wear different frames with different outfits.
Thatâs all I needed to hear.
I have progressivesâŠ.they are fine. I think YMMV with regard to this. Frankly, my cheap Zenni progressives are better than one of the $500 sets I have.
Prescribing progressives is an art that most opticians, optometrists and ophthalmologists donât possess. The wrong design, no matter how expensive, can be bad. Price is no guarantee of success.
Both kids have had multiple WPs and they have great customer service re: replacement pairs etc.
RayBan is an EssilorLuxottica brand. Do you have the same criticism for other EssilorLuxottica brands? (Yes, they are overpriced, mainly asking about what you think of their quality. They seem to dominate the shelves of most optometristsâ glasses shops.)
And most of the stuff Luxotica makes is⊠not that great (they apparently make 80% of what is sold as designer sunglasses and frames). I donât wear prescription glasses but Iâve bought some chichi name sunglasses in the past and was not impressed.
We opened a boutique office 7 years ago, after 21 years in a high volume, mostly medical ophthalmology practice. We only carry independent lines made in the EU, Japan and the US. That means no Lux, no Marchon. Proudly, not one of them is licensed. There are no brands visible except for Maui Jim and Rudy Project.
My daughterâs bought me a pair of readers fir Christmas (did the 5 in the box try on). Although I like how they look (my previous readers cost $20 for 6 from Amazon), they fall of the top of my head (I need readers for everything). Itâs driving me nuts.
My wife has WP progressives and loves them. I have WP progressive sunglasses (mailing for driving) and they work great. But we do have a WP shop that we can visit to get measured and try on frames.
Are the WP lenses the best? No, but they are great for their price point. (My Silouhetteâs are much better and clearer for reading, but then cost 5x as much.)
I have only had good experiences with WB, even with progressives. They have a good return policy, so if they are not right for you send them back.
Costco 5 minutes from our house has very reasonable prices for glasses with frequent coupons to save $25 to $40 if you buy more than 1 pair of glasses and are great about service as needed. I buy nearly all our glasses there.
I have brought glasses back if they break within a year and they give me a new pair of the same frame at no charge. I tend to buy titanium frames with spring hinges and theyâre very durable and light.
Another Costco voter. Iâve been pleased w/ their customer service. We have more than one Costco warehouse in town, and I was a bit surprised that they carry different frames. I thought they would all be the same supplier (at least regionally). Provides more choices though.
