anyone have long commutes to school?

i'm transferring to a new school for the spring semsester which start in a couple days...my plan was to find an apartment within a 10-15 min drive. unfortunately, i was unable to find apartments in my price range, which everyone who lives in calif knows prices are really high...it would be $900+/month for just a tiny studio apartment...just crazy..also some are not even available till february..so it basically, messed up my whole schedule since i plan to take several night classes...so i really have no choice right now other than to make a commute that might take a at least 1 1/2 to 2 hrs...what are some of your avg commute times to chool..i didnt really plan on this happening and it would really be a hassle to commute around 4hrs total everyday. especially when taking an early morning class class and a couple night classes..so some days i'll end up leaving at around 6am and notgetting home till midnight...any of u in a similar situation forced to commute a long distance for school?

Yes, I have a long commute. Depending, it takes me anywhere from around 1 hr 40 min to 2 hrs to get to school each day. I live in central New Jersey and take the train into Manhattan to NYU. Is it a nuisance? Certainly. Nonetheless, it is really, really not as bad as people think. In fact, I rather enjoy the separation between my school-life and my home-life. Also, the long train commute gives me plenty of time to read and study.

This summer I took classes at a different university from where I normally go, and had a commute of an hour. It drove me crazy. They way there was alright, but at the end of a long day I didn't want to have to deal with traffic and detours and nothing on the radio. I didn't even want to get in a car, I just wanted to raid my kitchen and collapse on the bed.

I have what I'd at least consider a semi-long commute (everyone with the hour/2hr commutes, bless you! I couldn't do it). Anywhere from 30-45 minutes. What makes it long is that it's in traffic, which is why I'm glad that this semester I've tried to schedule things around major traffic times :) So far, so good.
