I have to buy my own car which is a very big burden...what are some good jobs for hs students that pay very well?

as a babysitter (i've heard of 20/hr wages) or waitress at a high end restaurant. basically any job where you can earn tips. also, do you just want to make money, or do you also want a job you can enjoy?

just earn money..i don't mind working hard if it'll pay off and be worthwhile

my mom made me buy my own car because she insists i'll drive it more safely. I guess in a way shes probably right, but it feels better to know that my car is my car that i earned with working and saving for years rather than some of my friends who just got handed cars. Also, its fun to look for a really good deal if your into cars like i am. After months of searching i found a great car for a great price.

that was the website made by the guy i bought the car from. So keep working hard, save your money, and hold out for that awesome deal...it will be show up eventually.

a v6...boo..,lol none the less it was pry fast since it was a mustang but to truly appreciate the car you need a v8; just remeber your gonna need to buy insurance for that car and it isnt cheap maybe around $1k depedning on your status(male/female) and to dispel a myth, red cars do not cost more to insure than regular cars

yes they do.

btw where do you find potential cars? Online? That's the worst I think.

I think its best to go to an accredited car dealer, any recommendations?

A car is quite an investment, but IMO I think it does help you truly appreciate the fact that you worked for it and completely own it, on your own. good luck, though. thats beaucoup $.

Do not work at a mall, a franchise, chain, or amusement park. Most malls only pay the very minimum, same with chains. With few exceptions. Starbucks doesn't pay the best hourly, but you get a lot of tips. Most starbucks only hire 18 year olds though. Local restaurants usually pay the best, catering pays excellent. When I was 15 i worked as a dishwasher/kitchen help for a catering company and I got close to $10/hr with tips. Lifeguards make a lot too.

jawaad, the best is a private seller. Autotrader is a good place to look, that's how I found my car.

also dont overlook the classifieds in your local newspaper - always a good resource and often are filled with people willing to negotiate

I have my old car for sale, my mom got a new one and I wanted her car, it has AWD so I can go skiing/snowboarding

MOWING LAWNS = tax free and tons of $$$

I was given 1 94 Ford pickup. My dad said that I can do whatever I want with it. I can sell it, which is nice, but on the flipside if I wreck it I'm up **** creek without a paddle. Anyway, at the end of next summer I'm going to buy a 1985 Corvette w/4+3 manual. I've got 4k now and will get 2k for the picup and then probably another 4k for mowing next summer, so I will have enough to pay the outrageous insurance. :\ Nonetheless, it will be the greatest day of my life (including the day I get accepted to Cornell.) :)

Do you have a talent that can help get you a job.

I worked at an amusement park as a sound tech. It was actually a really cool job, and it was fun being 18 years old and actually being the lead guy at something int he park. The pay was decent (not as high as it should have been) and the work was something I enjoyed. If you can find something like that it'd be best for you.

don't get a corvette high maintenance and tell your parents to pay for insurance. tell them you'll payt hem 800 bucks instead of you paying 4k for your own insurance.
