I'm having a very hard time in determining what to write for, "Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve" and Penn's own reasons for transfer in the supplement.

Anyone else having the same problem? Can anyone help in clarifying what kind of information should be said in each essay?

If it helps, my reasons to transfer to Penn (Wharton) are:

Emphasize on Liberal Arts courses while in Wharton
Research opportunity
More concentrations that interest me
Submatriculation
A couple of student organizations
Faculty

I'm kind of having trouble writing the essay as well - I'm transferring to Cornell btw. To be honest, I a lot of my reasons would involve me talking about everything I hate about NYU and why I wouldn't have to deal with that crap at Cornell, but I know they hate it when you bash your current college, so I'm going to talk about academics only, how the College of Human Ecology is unique and the program I want isn't offered anywhere else. The app's not due till March 15th so I haven't put too much thought into it.

The way I'm doing it (I'm applying for Penn CAS) is that I'm going to address what I'm looking for in A school in the common app essay (what my school lacks without sounding negative), and focus on what specifically attracts me about Penn in the "Why Penn?" essay.

So I guess that I should just state what I'm looking for a school and not necessarily mention my school-- I would assume that the AdComm can infer that. For the latter essay, I can go into more detail and specifically "Why Penn".
