Son has been accepted and applied to honors program. Wondering if anyone else has heard back who has also applied and/or if anyone knows when NCState will be replying to honors applicants?

Nothing here.

Nothing yet for my S either. But I reviewed his invitation email and it says “Students selected to participate in the UHP will be notified by April 1, 2014.” So not until then.

Just checking in on this thread … my S also applied to the UHP but hasn’t heard anything yet. I guess this week or next … anybody else heard anything? Also, anybody heard anything about merit scholarship awards? I’m assuming that will be sometime in the next couple of weeks as well, if he gets anything. This waiting for final info with which to make a decision between schools is very wearing…

Yes I believe Honors is April 1 - and if you have applied for housing before that you can go back and ask to be put in honors housing. Anyone know about honors housing - we visited, seemed like a nice set up.

I am in the UHP at NCSU now, and although I did not live in the honors housing I can give you my take on it. The honors housing is nice. It’s in it’s own little area, complete with it’s own dining hall and convenience store. Many of the honors seminars are located in the area as well, so that is nice (allows you to roll out of bed and run straight to class with little effort). The drawbacks are that it is far away from some parts of campus (particularly Nelson, so if you are a business student be wary), and that it has a very “honors” like personality, meaning it is very quiet and study oriented. From what I have heard the community is very partying averse, so if you are interested in that I would recommend looking elsewhere (Tri Towers, Sullivan, Bragaw). Hope that answered some questions!

How are they going to inform? Via email or wolfpaw? No decision yet for my S on honors.

I would assume we’ll get any email saying our wolfpaw accounts are updated with the UHP status. They certainly like waiting until the last minute with UHP and financial aid!

Just got an email: I’m an alternate. There were 185 spots available. I’m also an alternate for the Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship… But it will be too late by the time they could notify me that I could get either one :/

I got accepted! Another plus for NCSU as I try to make a choice about colleges…

I am an alternate too :/

I’m also an alternate. Does anyone know how many alternates there are?

S got in. Still no info on $$ though… Really tired of waiting for drips of information…

S is an alternate. @ailinsh1 my S received his financial aid award yesterday. We are in-state and he applied early, in October (I think).

Thanks for that info, @neonpinklime. We are OOS; he applied in mid-October. Did you get it via email? I almost wish they’d also send out a, “all financial aid and scholarships have now been awarded” notification, so you know when to stop waiting…

@ailinsh1 We got an email to check his mypack portal. Then you when you click on award, there it was. Funny though, over the weekend I sent an email to his financial aid counselor (we knew who she was because she had emailed him when my son went through “verification” of his fafsa) and I asked her when we would get a financial aid award. Monday morning we got an email that said it was ready in mypack. A few hours later, his financial aid counselor responded to my email and wrote that they had not generated awards for any students yet and awards would go out in the next few weeks. So we emailed her back and thanked her saying we got his award today. So it seems like most awards have not gone out yet, but obviously a few have because we got ours. In my opinion they really should have this ready by April 1 for everyone because people need to make decisions.

Couldn’t agree more, @neonpinklime. Thanks for the info!
