Title says it all. :-) They're supposed to let students know by tomorrow whether or not they're finalists.

Nothing here yet either. It says on website that they will let all applicants know. Good luck!

So nervous, I feel like I’m going to lose my dinner.

Eep, my boyfriend and I both applied. We haven’t heard anything yet. Do you think it’ll be by phone call or letter or email? I would imagine we will hear tomorrow. Best of luck!

Son just heard back. He is not a finalist. He made it to semi-finalist at the first deadline.

Good luck to all of you!

heavenlyhostess,

I am sorry your son was not selected but I think he must still have received some outstanding scholarships from UTD, is that correct? I am guessing anyone who got the semifinalist status also qualified for their full tuition “plus” scholarships?

He got the Honors scholarship. So yes. We are thrilled! Full tuition and fees plus $6000 in cash per year.

Finalist! Yay! How many finalists are there? Does anyone know? and If you are selected as a finalist, what are the scholarships that you can receive (even if you’re not selected as a McDermott Scholar)?

I’m not sure how many finalists they choose, but when I asked in November they said around 50 or so. Then they narrow that down to around 20 scholars. And the director said that if you were named a finalist and didn’t make the cut for scholar that there would be other scholarships available. My son was a semi-finalist and received the Honors scholarship. Congrats to all who made it to finalist status. It is a great honor and I wish you well on the rest of the journey!

heavenlyhostess, that is still a pretty sweet deal. not many schools can give a scholarship like that!

40-50 finalists. If you got finalist, you are pretty much going to get an AES scholarship. Most, if not all, do.

I think they already offered the AES scholarships to all the semi-finalists, yes? My son got the same thing as Heavenlyhostess’ son. (And yes, very sweet deal!)

Now we need to decide which parent is going to Dallas with our son.

Yea, finalists probably do already have AES scholarship in hand. Theres not really any other scholarship available better than AES except for Terry and McDermott

The parent that wants to stay at the Renaissance Hotel and go to the Dallas Symphony!

I’m a finalist! I’m really excited.

Has anyone gotten their travel plans? My son is still waiting even though he submitted all the info on time. We’ll be flying from California so maybe it’s just taking longer?

Never mind. Got them today. :-)

can anyone post some stats of previous finalists? just to say if i am within the range or not
