Ladies in my school are saying that they received way more applications than expected and the priority select apps were all put into rd. Anyone hear anything? Thanks.

My D was accepted the first week in December a few days following her interview. Her app was Priority Select. The admissions counselor said they were swamped with apps (over 3,000), so I assume those not admitted during this first round would be put into rd.

I did the priority select app and was accepted in December as well. I can understand them beiung swamped by apps though because it seems like a large number of students in my school got the priority select app and strangely enough Ursinus is actually trying to get a lot of them to complete via e-mails and letters. I suppose the priority select app makes the school look more selectiv because its enrollment is like 1,500 yet is already received 3,000 applicants. Anyway since this is the Ursinus board and all does anyone know how good this school is? I honestly kind of did it as a safety but if I get the Zacharias schoalrship I may consider it. Lol this all kind of depends on if I make Princeton or not. Anyway if anyone has any idea about what Ursinus is like I would be very appreciative. (My interview is Jan. 27 so I will see it then but I'm still kind of curious.) Thanks!

hey guys, yup, i did priority select app too. i gave my application to guidance to be postmark on the day. they said they got my application a little while later. i didn't hear anything afterwards. so idk. we'll see.

a friend of mine applied mid december and still hasn't heard back. she did the early action, which i'm assuming is the priority select you all mentioned. when she went to visit it a few days ago they told her that they were completely overwhelmed by the number of applications they got. but honestly, since mid december...

i think it might actually be a pretty good school. i was looking around on their site and i think i saw something about the school having a focus on people do arent at the top but near it or getting there and have a lot of programs to get them where they need to be. so, i'm assuming it's a school for people who probably aren't going to apply to ivies or the little ivies but are more geared toward strong schools that demand less. i still think that you can have an advantage there whether or not you are at the top or at the very bottom. it means that they focus on making everyone a little better, which can help everyone.

my friend just got a phone call. she's in.

I got mine on November 16 :) Although I applied Priority Select because I was told I would have better scholarship opportunities and was under the impression that I would have a fin aid package earlier, but I still have to wait til late March/early April

i did priority select, but haven't heard from them since i've sent in my applicaiton; i know that my school sent their part in a while back...oh well; i guess i've been deferred to RD...

Ursinus is a pretty good college and depending on your major there are some wonderful teachers and experiances you can have. They really are open to new ideas so long as you stay clear of the administration. I'm a recent bio major graduate so I'm more than willing to answer questions if anyone wants to know more about the school.

did you go on the premed track...are you in med school...

No I didn't do the premed track, though I was pretty close to it, I left with almost a minor in Chem and a minor in Art to go along with my Bio major. I did know a lot of people on the premed track and there really is a lot they do for those students, there is a group that meets to go over what is needed for med school, to help get people prepped for everything and keep on track all four years.

I got a letter in the mail today that said that my priority select application was complete...i applied A LOOOONG time ago, though...for EA

Maybe it took them a while to get your transcript; they're supposed to give you a decision within 2 weeks of applying if you app priority select. My school took a long time send my transcript, so I actually had to wait a month for my decision.

...is it 2 weeks after they receive everything? so, they're on rolling admissions?

For priority select applicants they are. Otherwise, no.

...anyone know of a priority select applicant who was rejected?

no, but a lot of people I know just didnt hear anything from them.

" They really are open to new ideas so long as you stay clear of the administration." Gepard, why did you say this? Thanks

Take a look at the site Ratemyprofessors.com to see what a lot of people think of the President of the College, John Straussberger. The teachers are wonderful, most of the staff too, but the administration tends to get carried away with the money part of things, making the investors and donators happy, getting more money for the college even if most people realize that what they're doing isn't the best for the students. As with any place there are internal politics and those can catch up students like a few years ago when a professor was forced to leave, the students put up protests and had a big rally about it, which rather impressed me, people really do care and with such a small campus you have more oppertunity to express your opinion. I like to let people know about the administration because sometimes they can turn off potential students with their processes and also because once you get to the college if you decide to attend its something that can get to you.

Hey, I am glad I found this sight!
