Anyone heard back from Liberal Arts?

Yeah, I know, I shouldn’t be stressing- decisions roll out until Jan 31st- but I literally check my tracker maybe 6 or 7 times a day. It’s insane. I’ve been accepted to 3 rolling schools and it has not gotten any easier. Anyone gotten their decisions yet? If so- GPA, scores, etc?

I’m also still waiting anxiously, UMN is my top choice so I want to hear back already! What are your stats? it seems that they are accepting stronger applicants first. I have a 31 ACT and 3.68W GPA. (around 3.2-3.3 UW)

Waiting is not fun. I have a 29 ACT and a 3.6W GPA- puts me on the lower end but still hopeful

My S18 was accepted to Liberal Arts. He got the letter on October 24th; I think he applied in late September. He has a 3.95 UW, rigorous classes, and a 1590 SAT. Good luck to all!

My son was accepted to Liberal Arts. He applied on October 2nd and was accepted on October 21st. He has a 3.94 UW, 29 on ACT and took a few honors classes and 3 AP total including 2 this year. Good luck!

@jkirsy It looks like UMN accepts anyone over 3.0 UW gpa to their CLA. From the admissions we have heard from our son’s school, they do not seem to look at essays and its mostly based on UW GPA and ACT score. Many people who didn’t attempt to write essays got in because of GPA. Even if the course rigor is normal, it should not matter. They go by UW GPA. You should be ok, hope you hear soon.

@genuine77 My GPA is above a 3 but my scores are low

Uh, I hate to be Ms. Joanie Raincloud here, but a 3.0 uw GPA is NOT a pass to CLA. A lot depends on your ACT as well. (Courseload too, but applicants for CLA typically have the necessary college prep courses . . ). If you have an ACT/SAT at or above the 75th percentile then you can get in with a low-ish GPA (but still over 3.0). If you have an ACT/SAT in the 25th percentile, it will really help to have a strong GPA. Obviously kids are admitted below the 25th percentile (25% of them, in fact) but you have no idea what their other stats were, whether they did PSEO, whether they are first gen, URM, or other extenuating factor, etc. You also don’t know the trend of that GPA - obviously upward is going to be viewed differently than downward.

This is not to say that @jkirsy won’t get in - the 29 ACT is right where it needs to be and the UW GPA is hopefully sufficient and reflects rigorous and challenging coursework. There are many possible reasons for a delay, and because the admissions process is tweaked a bit every year, it can be hard to know about exact timing if you are not a slam dunk application. Fortunately, they have moved first notification to Jan. 31 (used to be end of Feb) and have included “deferred” as an possible outcome (last year they waitlisted a bunch of applicants in late Jan. only to admit them a month or so later!). So they’ve improved communication markedly from prior years.

Good luck to all!

@ed5060 DO you have any EC’s? But congrats on getting in MATE.

@GigixMeow is that GPA weighted or unweighted?
