Anyone heard from Cal Poly Pomona yet?

Gpa cutoff for comp Sci this year must have been at least 3.1 + for comp Sci majors. Jees shouldve just taken my chances at some UCs >->

I was denied to all 4 UCs I applied to: Davis, LA, SD, and SB for FTF Comp Engineering with a GPA of 3.3, SAT 2010, and a huge amount of extra-curricular, college classes, volunteer work, experience, and work experience.

Don’t feel too bad you guys, be glad you saved the hundreds I spent to get ******** results.

I will simply laugh as people with **** GPA get in undeclared and fail all their classes with no programming experience. It’s a shame.

On a side note I got in at other CSUs but denied to SLO and waitlisted to Pomona.

Here’s a question just for planning purposes …

If any of us waitlisted first-time freshman applicants are offered a spot, does anyone know approximately what range of dates we’d be looking at for orientation/registration?

Would it likely be on the late side, with limited class openings?

Angeleno23, I don’t know when your registration dates are as FTF, but we haven’t even registered for the fall quarter yet. I think that occurs sometime at the end of this month and we’re only allowed to register for certain amounts of units at certain times. Our first registration allows us only to register for 3 classes (13 for normal majors, 14 for engineers I think) and then later on 17 for normal majors, 18 for engineers. Then it’s maximum 20 during add/drop week. When I did orientation over the summer I was only allowed to register for 13 units (only did 12) at that point. Then I bumped it up to 16. I was a transfer though so getting classes was kind of easier (I’m not an engineering major).

I am assuming people would be OK though…just don’t get a super late orientation date and you’re not screwed as a freshman. But there are always classes available I find to take. Maybe not necessarily the ones you wanted if you got in late.

You sign up for orientation online and choose a date that is on the day your major does their orientation.

CalDud, thanks. Something else I’m thinking about is that, although my SAT scores exempt me from EPT/ELM testing, apparently there is another placement test I need to take to be allowed to register for Calc 1 after completing Math Analysis/Precalc at my high school. The next time this test (called the Math Diagnostic Placement Test) will be offered at CPP is June 22. I need the result from the test to be allowed to register.

Okay I’m confused… one person said that those have yet to receive an answer is on a waitlist whereas another just claimed that we’ve been deny. What is the conclusion here? This admission process is pathetic. Give us an answer.

@Angeleno
Dude what test were you talking about? So i got to take it also then, in order to take college level Calc?

So then everyone that didnt get an email or change of status on Bronco Direct was rejected? Well i got it fortunetly, hope space opens up …

You may be exempt if your SAT is high enough.

Re what compsciguy91 was told on the phone about everyone not explicitly waitlisted being rejected, I’d recommend that more transfer people call in and see what they’re told. It seems like there are sometimes inconsistencies in info from the phone. I thought the transfer people were all de facto waitlisted even if they weren’t notified of that.

After calling, it appears that they don’t have the ability to tell their waitlist applicants where they are on the said waitlist.

You would think that due to a numerically based EI system, they could do something like that.

@Angeleno23

and plus, it would not make any sense if freshman were able to get in through waitlist, but not a lot of transfers… i thought transfers from CC are supposed to have priority? unless that is not that case…

either way, anytime i try to call them they just put me on hold forever. i don’t really know how to get a hold of them.

edit: cal poly pomona’s facebook page said:

“if you have any questions pertaining to your admissions status, please contact our admissions counselors for further assistance at admissions@csupomona.edu (Email)”

i replied by saying nobody is answering the email and people are being put on hold forever and the status got a few likes.

they just deleted the comment and other comments of people that had the same problem, how nice. -_-

My bet is that first-time freshmen who haven’t been either accepted or waitlisted at this point are probably denied. And transfer students are being sorted out. But that’s just a wild guess.

One of my good friends works in admissions. She gave me the number of one of the helpful advisors. If you want it, message me. Also, of course transfer students don’t get priority. Also if any of you live close I would suggest you go in yourself. My situation is different but my friend told me its always better to do things in person there.

I’m a little confused … So if we didn’t get an e-mail at all, we’ve been denied? That’s kind of unfair. We paid the application fee and we deserve to receive some kind of response.

Ps. If you guys can’t get through give me ur questions because my friends are bugging one of the nicer advisors to.personally help.me out and he is going to call me tomorrow. I guess they harassed him enough :P

^i think the me and the other transfers who are at “application received” would like to know where they are in the admission process, if you get chance to ask.

Yes, my question is ‘How is it possible for my application status to be the same as when I first applied for Cal Poly? And is there any way they can tell me my actual status before I commit for another school, because this whole process at Cal Poly is preposterous.’

Yes exactly. I’ve been on App Received since forever. This is the only school I’m waiting on, but because of what’s happening, I’m thinking of just letting this one go. It’s giving me anxiety.

Ditto to both what millie and op9no2 said. Mainly if you can see if it is POSSIBLE to still be admitted for transfer students that have not recieved ANYTHING yet on broncodirect. From what I understand, the only people that got an e-mail to see if they wanted to be on waiting list were FTF so if that means transfer are not on the waiting list then all transfers will probably not be admitted then? Am I the only one that sees the oddness here? @_@

^ Are all of you transfers?

Yes, I am a transfer for a non-impacted program (Business…LOL). I got accepted into a rigorous business program (Impacted) at CSUF and I’m just about to commit over there… only reason I want to go to Pomona is that it is close to my work place as well as my house (I need to take care of my grandmother).
