My App status also says incomplete, but doesn’t say what I need. It also still says Electrical engineer major though I’ve called and asked in person to change it to Mechanical Engineer.

I’m hoping decisions are out by the weekend. Good luck everybody!!!

That’s because Chemical Engineering @ Cal Poly Pomona rocks! By the way, I was accepted for Chemical Engineering at the other two CSUs who offer it (San Jose and Long Beach) and for Materials engineering at Cal Poly SLO. But seriously, Cal Poly Pomona ChemE is a beast and I hope you come.

@ calpolyengineer . hey how good is the chem engineering program @ cal poly . is it competitive , whats the student teacher ratio, and r most of the classes offered all yr round or just once a year and how about the competitiveness among students . i know it ranks 15 in terms of rankings in the west , but the quarter sys is kinda scary for me ( i love to procrastinate !) . on the other hand , CSULB is directly opposite where i work, i have a transfer guarantee and they r on the semester sys.so u see why i am torn btwn convenience and cal poly with all the resources .

The Cal Poly Pomona Chemical Engineering Department is a bucket full of fun (and another one full of work =P). It’s very competitive and everyone works their butts off but we are a very close-knit department. We pull all-nighters every week to get a lousy C (get ready to meet Mr. C). Grade inflation is non-existent in upper-level courses. There are about 200 students and 10 faculty members so you can calculate the ratio (hey! you decided to become an engineer… do the math lol). In all seriousness, If you are a hard worker you’ll love it here. Competitiveness among student is intense, but unlike the UCs, there are considerably less amount of pompous and arrogant pricks who think they are going to reinvent the wheel. There is undergraduate research opportunities for those who can maintain a 3.0 or above and you get paid for through the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation. Classes are only offered once a year and that sucks… but it’ll give you more motivation to do even better. Are we competitive amongst other universities? Why don’t you ask UCLA’s ChemE department as to how they liked bitting our dust during the 2009 AICHE Regional Conference at UC Davis last April.

@calpolyengineer . what was the competition about in the video. if i am accepted i am coming there . the quarter sys is the only thing i fear the most , i am hard worker who likes to procastinate .but i am willing to make changes.

My app status is incomplete with the final transcript being the only thing due… I applied in early October and it’s been like this ever since my SAT scores were loaded o_o
Edit: I haven’t received any email or postal mail about an admit/deny yet, so I’m still waiting.

My son’s status changed last night to “incomplete” and is now requesting a final transcript by 7/15. I think it’s a good sign, because why would they ask for a final transcript unless they were going to accept you? Lol, that’s what I keep telling myself anyways…think positive! :)

i don’t want to disapoint you but i had the final transcript due since the beginning, like 2 weeks after i submitted my app. well i don’t know what it means but just saying.

Nooooo! My daughter misinterpreted the Bronco Direct message - it wasn’t an acceptance - it was just the message saying that final transcripts have to be sent by July. Looks like we’re still in wait mode after all.

My son has been checking his status and had not noticed this link. Reading it will explain how the impaction is effecting first-time freshman and transfers. In my son’s case, he is a FTF. He applied to an impacted major, but has met the higher math requirement and filled out a supplemental survey (hoping that the system submitted it - never got a confirmation message and he thinks he had the browser open too long and the system might have timed out). Also, he is from a Tier-2 school (outside the local area). All this has us thinking that he won’t get in, if he gets in, until Tier-1 applicants in his major have declined their CPP offer.

Here’s where you can read out it - let us know if your interpretation is the same.
bronco direct home>>applicant campus links (far right of page)>>admissions and outreach>>update (bottom of page)

^Yes, CE applicant. He said he had read that someone posted that, after filling out the survey, they got a message saying that they’d hear by the end of January. That made him think that there was some sort of confirmation, by email or web page. He is worried that he took so long to do the essay that it timed out - should have wrote, then cut and pasted…

I assume that you received the Engineering Day Open House invite for March 6? He attended last year to see if he really wanted to be an eng. and if so, what type. He was majorly impressed by the lab tour and students who presented there. He narrowed the options down to chemical or civil that day. He was totally impressed by the faculty and the chemE student panel swayed him until he did an engineering camp at U of A - then he knew it was civil. I definitely recommend attending if you are still deciding where to go…I wish all schools did this sort of thing.

^ My son didn’t get an invitation. I called the school and they said that it was by invitation only, and that I could call the Dean’s office. I did that and left a message. Not sure if they are only inviting admitted students or if all applicants to Engineering will be invited or what.

I also read that for impacted majors (like Engineering) that they do not consider Tier 1 or Tier 2…everyone is considered equally. That’s good for our Tier 2 students! :)
