i was accepted about two weeks ago.
GPA: 3.8
SAT: 1700
Major: Animal Science

sean937, the SAT scores are a bit low and your gpa could have been a bit better, but I think you have a fairly good chance getting into CSU Fullerton. As for Cal Poly Pomona, I would say your chances are a bit lower, but you never know.
[It also depends on whether or not your major is impacted. If it is, then chances at getting in are a lot lower :[

Congratulations alisongausepohl!

My stats are almost the same as yours, so that definitely brings my hopes up a lot :]

Just wondering, what were your math and reading scores?

Admitted March 2nd

GPA: 3.42
SAT: 1400
Major : Undeclared

shocking ?

My application was withdrawn due to my SAT/ACT scores not being sent by collegeboard. O_o

I’m pretty sure I would’ve been accepted:

GPA:3.96
SAT: 1750
Major: English

Good thing I didn’t really want to go there anyway…but it is close to home, so it could have been a safety. :/

@loljackyy: 1400 out of 2400?

@kayjc6: Collegeboard just didn’t send the scores? That really sucks, because you probably could have been accepted :/

@blondiex293: Well, it had said that if you sent the scores to one Cal State, they would share the information, therefore I chose the top two Cal State’s I wanted to attend: most likely Cal State Fullerton (accepted) and Cal State Long Beach (haven’t heard anything yet). But it’s okay, because Cal State Fullerton has the teaching program that I’m looking for anyway. :)

Ohhhh okay yeah you had to use a certain code. But that’s awesome that you got into the school you wanted :)

Waitlisted for architecture Long Beach here I come!!!

By the way, does anyone know approximately how many students get waitlisted for architecture each year at CPP?

Oh and another question: How soon do people usually get either rejected or accepted after being waitlisted? This really was my TOP choice, so before I send in my 400 dollar housing application for CSULB, should I wait for Cal Poly to let me know what they’re gonna do with me?

@blondiex,

Architecture is the toughest major at CPP. Last year they accepted 18% or about 300 our of 1600. They usually aim for an entering class of about 70 students. They’ll accept the first wave and see how many commit. BTW what were your stats? The close to the 3.8 gpa and 1200/1600 sat average that you can get, the better chance you’ll have. I don’t know what the budget situation is this year however.

Yeah my letter this year said ONLY 100 students!! That is crazy! Oh how I wish I would have applied for landscape arch. instead I called and asked if they were processing alternate majors this year [I put landscape architecture as my alternate] but the guy didn’t even give me an answer :[

My GPA was 3.8 and my SAT was 1110/2400, so I see why I didn’t get in. On the impacted majors page of CPP’s website it said the minimum eligibility index for accepted students was usually 4100, and I just barely got 4110 [I think] but I guess that number got raised a bit this year.

I think I’ll just end up going to Long Beach anyway because I NEED to get housing wherever I’m gonna go and if I wait to long, I won’t get housing no matter where I end up going.

But honestly, it feels good to at least have been waitlisted. I don’t think they waitlist a lot of the applicants [correct me if I’m wrong] so just the fact that I still have a chance makes me feel a bit more self-confident.

I thought the fact that I’ve taken a lot of AP classes and that I’m in advanced art and AP art history would have helped me, but they strictly based admissions on eligibility index, so none of that mattered very much, I guess haha.

1110/2400 seems extremely low for someone with a 3.8 gpa. CPP only looks at sat scores out of 1600. What was your Math plus CR (1600)? The eligibility index is also calculated based on your 1600 score. A 4100 eligibility index is based on roughly 3.8 gpa and 1200/1600 on the SAT.

I’m sorry, I meant 1110/1600. They don’t count the writing score [which is a shame because I did the best on that]

I don’t think it’s even possible to get a score that low hahaha

1110/1600 is not stellar, but it’s not a terrible score either. I would say you’re below average, but averages are created by both above and below. I would still give you a fighting chance. Even if you get in later, I am sure you wouldn’t pass it up because of the $400 you’ve already paid to CSULB. This is your future after all. Just be patient.

Yeah, the score is definitely below the average when compared to the other students that applied to architecture, so I wouldn’t be very surprised if I ended up being rejected. I’m just going to keep myself on the waitlist and see what happens in the end. At least I have a good back-up school :]

I really wish CSU’s would count the reading score, though! I received a 620, which is higher than my CR and math scores. It’s not that high of a score, but I think if they took it into consideration, by chance may have been a little better. As certain majors at the CSU’s become so extremely hard to get into, I think they should start treating admission into those majors as they treat admission into the UC’s. [Meaning they shouldn’t ONLY look at CR and math scores and GPA]

My D applied in Biology and is still waiting to hear something besides the 'Impacted Plan; CSU Eligible" status…

Can’t believe my daughter and I haven’t seen or heard of this until now but–
this is listed as a requirement for Biology majors since it’s impacted (on the Admissions website for Cal Poly Pomona):

“a minimum score of 550 of the math section of the SAT exam or a minimum score of 23 on the enhanced math section of the ACT exam is required for consideration;”

Is my D doomed if she didn’t meet either of those??

Wouldn’t they have checked that off first and rejected those that didn’t meet the criteria?

They have requested supplemental information on our FAFSA which we’ve submitted and they appear to have worked up a financial aid package. Would they have kept us dangling till now if she didn’t meet the extra requirement due to impaction?

D is now more anxious–if that’s possible!
