i don't know anything about your stats/extra credits but keep in mind catholic schools like Holy Cross are looking for completely different things than RPI. Holy Cross has a more holistic approach to decisions and puts a huge amount of weight on athletics (25% of students are varsity athletes). as a LAC, essays are also a big factor. i'm really sorry to hear you didn't get in and are upset, but keep in mind this is the hardest year (ever?) to get into college, so don't take it personally. at least you go in somewhere! i know smart people who haven't gotten in anywhere.

i know this is a lame-o question, but what does RPI stand for?

Has everyone received their letters? My D is still waiting!

vergil---RPI stands for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. It is an excellent school.

I am really worried now. My S got very small envelope, surely a rejection from Holy Cross today. HC seemed like a match rather than a reach. I guess we will wait for the rest.

RPI has a great reputation! You should be pleased you got in. I know the disappointment is tough when you don't.

I was wicked worried before. I live in SE Mass. and didn't hear until today, even though other students at my school heard as early as Friday, but I'm IN!!!!

STILL HAVENT HEARD and people have heard in my school. mostly rejections though. its my number 1, i cant wait any longer.

I was waitlisted. I got my letter on Monday (I live in CT). I'm perfectly okay with it though because I realized I didn't really want to go anyways. My sister is a freshman at HC and she's very very happy, but we're completely different people, so even though she's happy, it doesn't necessarily mean I'd be happy. Plus, I already got into my first choice :)

I spoke to someone in Admissions this morning. All letters have been sent. If you don't receive your letter tomorrow, you (the student) can call on Friday. My DD's letter came today. ACCEPTED!

will they tell you on the phone cause im at the point where im willing to drive to masachusetts and find out, although its probably a rejection since i still havent heard yet.

She said that if my daughter had not heard by Friday she could call and speak to an admissions counsellor. Don't get discouraged. My daughter's acceptance letter came today to NY. It was postmarked 3/26.
