Anyone heard yet?

I live close to farifax. I'm in school right now so maybe its there now in my home mailbox. Can't wait to go home.

I'm at school right now too
I hope I get in..but it's def. not my top choice

We havent received a letter from JMU either,It wasnt in our mail Today, 01/15. my daughter called from school. JMU said they'll send a new letter.. but didn't know when

Wow, that is slow torture. They couldn't just give your D their decision over the phone? Well, if it is a deferral, then I guess it would not matter, but I am still sure that she would like to know where she stands.

Ok I am home and JMU letter didn't come. I am emailing their office of admissions.

northeastmom, what is naviance

supersenior, it is a computer program that has different features, I think, depending upon what a high school subscribes to. It can have what they call scatttergrams, which allow a student to compare their stats to other students who were both accepted or denied admission from the same hs. This is one very useful feature if the data that your hs collected was accurate, and if enough students applied. It does not include essay info, ECs, whether the student had an interview or visited, legacies, whether M or F, or URM info, so much is still missing. It plots SATs, and GPA and can tell you if the student applied EA, ED, RD, and whether they were accepted, deferred, or denied admission.

I GOT MY LETTER TODAY AND I GOT INTO THE BUSINESS SCHOOL AT JMU!!!!
sweet

pats4life, Congratulations! I did not even know that you could be admitted directly into their business school as a freshman.

My d's counseler called JMU and they said they will send a new letter. My daughter also called after school and they said they dont give information over the phone , so they will be re sending a letter today.. !

well I checked online and I got in!!!
It's not necessarily the business school, but I'm majoring in business and they said that I get in on my letter!

You checked online? Can you do that?

can you check online if you got in?

Arcticmom, from the JMU website:

"The JMU Office of Admissions updates application status on this Web site. JMU respects your confidentiality and therefore no personal data or admission decisions will be posted on this site. Admission decisions will continue to be mailed via first class mail to your home address."

I think that they do give you a number that you can use to check the status of your application (I guess this means that everything was received, that a decision was made, but this is my interpretation), and it has a place on this webpage where it says you can verify your SAT or ACT scores.

So apparently no admissions decisions are posted their website.

No you can't check if you got in, but you can call and talk to them about it once you get your letter. You can also check your status like stated before.

Way To Go, Pat!

the mailman didnt bring the JMU letter today, either.. :(
BUT...SHE GOT THE LETTER FOR THE INTERVIEW FOR THE BLUESTONE SCHOLARSHIP!! SO SHE IS IN!!
They interview 50 candidates on campus February 17, 2008. All students attending the campus interviews will receive a scholarship award!!

Well, you must be a very proud Articmom today! I am so happy for you and your D! It is too bad that you had to go through all of this waiting, but it makes that letter all the more exciting. JMU has very few scholarships, so you should be so proud of her! BTW, just curious, are you instate or out of state?

Thanks for all your support and being here answering my questions northeastmom.. We had had 3 hard days, since last Sunday when she learned about friends receiving letters..!!
In-state.

I believe you about the had days! I remember telling my son that I wanted him to apply to at least one school with rolling admissions. He applied to two, and I am so glad that he did. Once a couple of kids in his grade received an admission, he came home and asked me when he would hear from his colleges. This was in early October! He would never have made it 'til January if he did not have a rolling decision school. Fortunately, he heard within 2 weeks from one of his 2 rolling schools, and that took the heat off because he knew that he was accepted to a four year college.
