I'm sure it happens but I just want to try to see if it happens often or not.

i never got an interview :( even after i emailed them and told them i wasn't contacted yet, i didn't hear anything. i thought for sure they hated me and threw my application away or something hahahaha :D

interview free, and on purpose. i just couldnt bring myself to do the application early enough to qualify for one haha. so yes it happens....and no, my test scores aren't amazingly high or anything. not an underrepresented minority either.

just write a kick ass essay and suck up to the teachers writing your rec

yup, here is a live sample. i never got an interview. i applied too late

Yeah, I didn't get interviewed either, but I still got in, they probably loved my essay....and my recs like Jarred said.

Interviews are optional, but they serve as an additional recommendation to your application. However, if you are offered one, I would probably try to arrange it--it definitely shows interest in the school. Not everyone has alumni in their area so interviews are not always possible.

I didn't get an interview, and I was waitlisted. But then again, I did my essays/application in general last-minute, so that was probably a bigger factor. I'm sure if I got an interview, I would've gotten in...I ended up being accepted w/o sending in any follow-up info. :)

Yep, I was also accepted without an interview. I sent my application way too late to qualify.

I was sick, but went to my inerview anyway.

I had a hoarse voice, there was no chemistry with my interviewer, it was awkward, and it seriously lasted around 15 minutes. By far, Duke was my worst interview.

And I got in!

I didn't realize we could interview until a bout a week before the deadline... I didn't send in the optional recommendation either... oh well... college apps were so overwhelming, sometimes you just miss some stuff.

I tried to get an interview like eight times by calling the phone number provided by the admissions office, and it never worked.

However, I did get in, so I guess the interview was not as important as advertised by some.

I am a student at Duke now, and I did have an interview - but when I went to it he glanced at the resume I brought, put it down, told me that I should know that the interview isn't a big deal at all and not really important to the admissions process, and just asked me if I had any questions about the school. The entire interview was basically just me asking him questions and him telling me about Duke. Nothing about me at all. So, I think that says something about the importance of the interview...

Yes, I got in without an interview.

I actually know someone who worked at the Admissions Office this year, and she said the interview means absolutely nothing.

I got in without an interview; applied January 2 11:59 PM, before they announced the week extension, lol. I also got into Rice without an interview as well.

i got in without an interview. like most others I was too lazy to turn app in that early lol.

I got in after declining interview due to distance considerations.

I turned my application literally two days before New Years, and by some freak of nature, I still got an interview. I didn't really want one and I totally freaked out, though good thing my interviewer was really nice and treated me to dinner. ;)

got in without an interview and i applied december 31.

yup, no interview.

my friend who got an interview got rejected... so...
