To tell you the truth, I have never felt more demoralized before in my entire life. I've worked hard for years ending successfully with a 3.70 UW GPA, and study hours for the SAT and ended with a decent score of 2210. My extracurricular consists of varsity crew and president at various school clubs. I am considered a senior role model as I am a prefect in one my school's dormitory. All of this, somehow resulted in a rejection from NYU. Not even a waitlist. My college counselor listed NYU as a safety school for me. I have never been more sad or confused. I wanted to start this thread wondering if anyone is in the same sinking boat as I am.

I have a friend who is an outstanding student and was rejected to his 5 of his top 6 and odds say that he will probably be dissapointed by Princeton today. All I can tell you, and him, is that your college experience will be what you make of it, and wherever that is isnt important. If you have been a good student through HS, you will succeed in college and beyond if you want to.

Are you an international? (I notice you mentioned a knowledge of and international school in another thread).

Did you apply to an “audition” major/school? Gotta prove the talent AND the grades.

Or Stern? Need high stats for that school.

I know it hurts…but you’re gonna have a LOT of company in pain come about 5pm tonight when all the Ivies announce.

what school did you apply to? CAS or Stern? because stern is very hard to
get into and it should never be considered a safety school

I applied to CAS, which is why I was surprised. Hahaha, I used to go to international school. But I am now currently in a private high school in the United States.

5PM today will be absolutely brutal.

omg there’s absolutely no hope for me now… ugh :(

Well, lemme tell you then, my daughter has the EXACT same SAT (though she has a 34 ACT), and the same GPA, and got it. So you CAN lick your wounds…who will ever KNOW why you didn’t get in? Seems VERY odd. Of course…my D is also state champion in a few non-academic areas…who KNOWS! Does sound pretty darn odd to me. My D was rejected from Georgetown. That’s OK, we figured it was coming. BUT…saw plenty of people with lower stats get in. And THAT is where the REST of the application comes into play…that “Holistic” word I’m so sick of hearing.

Hope you have a safety. Whatever happens…it’s ALL good. Best to ya.
