Anyone here attending U-Melbourne? I have problem with dorm!!

I know this is a website about American universities, but I just cant seem to find a discussion board about australian universities.

Anyone here attending U-Melbourne? I have problem with dorm!! Apparently the university website says that the university dorms will be closed during the academic breaks and holidays, even the ones dat are a few days long. I was wondering where they expect you to stay at that time?

Do most people reside in universities dorms, or nearby apartments??

I don't go to Melb but im guessing you're living at one of the residential colleges? You should check your plan with your individual college. I've heard some do close over the break as I hear they lease out some rooms for functions and events. Some don't.

I don't think they would close down the college for a short holiday. Its only the academic breaks between semesters and during summer that they may "close".

You should just call up your master of college and ask :)

Good Luck

Ahh ok... Also, I will need to choose to stay at one of the 13 residential colleges. Since I have never visited the campus, how do they expect me to choose it? Do each residential colleges have their own reputation or wadever??~~

They probably expect you to go home.

but im int'l student.... im from thailand..

Many American colleges in similar situations make accomodations available to international students. You really need to talk to them or email them.

Some schools have special dorms for int'l students that are open year-round.

Not this one = =
