Anyone here get a 35 or 36 on ACT? Or know of anyone?

<p>I got a 35 in December.</p>

<p>Did you consider the ACT to be "hard"? some parts were challenging but i thought it was much easier than the SAT
Were you confident on all your answers? on most, but i guessed on a few
How much prep work did you do? i just did some questions on number2.com the week before
How many time had you taken the ACT before you got the 35/36? none
Do you have any tips for me to get a score of 34+? just skim passages in reading and science-time is a big factor</p>

<p>I'm a black student who just earned a 36 on a proctored practice ACT-exam given at my high school. If I ace the exam for real in April, then I'll probably be the only black kid in the nation to do so...I currently have a 33 on the real ACT now...</p>

<p>I got a 35 in Feb.</p>

<p>1)No, not hard. A bit pressed for time sometimes.
2)Confident of my answers, except for science...but I guess it worked out well in the end.
3)Took 6 practice tests from Real ACT book, Kaplan, and the ACT booklet...mostly just the science section though.
4)None officially, but had taken the practice tests
5)Watch your timing. If you don't know it, move on, go back to it later. The questions aren't ordered by difficulty (I didn't think so) and so some easy questions that you could answer might be toward the end and if you don't GET to the end, then a potential loss of points.
Plus, watch out for stupid mistakes in math and english. Sometimes in English they'll ask which answer does NOT fit the criteria or in math they'll have you solve for x and then ask "what is 3x?" and stuff like that.</p>

<p>if i got a 2050 on the SAT, is there anyway to see how i would do on the ACT?</p>

<p>crouton, just go to google and type in ACT/SAT conversion chart.</p>

<p>Thanks for all the replies. Many smart people in here. I am aiming for 34+ on the ACT I am taking on April 8th and April 26th.</p>

<p>crouton, those charts are good for seeing how a college will look at your score, but they are not always accurate for each person. i got a 35 on the ACT, and the chart says that is equivalent to a 1580 out of 1600, but on the real SAT, I got a 1480. so you may do much better on one or the other depending on your skills.</p>

<p>I got a 35 on this latest test.</p>

<p>Did you consider the ACT to be "hard"? I thought the reading was pretty difficult, and parts of the writing. The math and science I found to be really easy though.
Were you confident on all your answers? on most, but i guessed on a few
How much prep work did you do? No prep, but my SAT prep really helped me for this.
How many time had you taken the ACT before you got the 35/36? None.
Do you have any tips for me to get a score of 34+? For math, take your time and make sure you don't fall for any traps. For science, don't read the passages unless you absolutely have to. Reading and writing (English) are basically just natural ability that you can't really prep for.</p>

<p>I got a 35 (32E 36M 35R 35S).
Did you consider the ACT to be "hard"? No.
Were you confident on all your answers? Yes, all of them. (This is a problem)
How much prep work did you do? None.
How many time had you taken the ACT before you got the 35/36? None.
Do you have any tips for me to get a score of 34+? Don't read the science articles; get good at math in the general, and I really wouldn't know about the English section... :(</p>

<p>To the first question, our school is fairly large (around 4000 people), so we have a lot of people that got a 35 on the ACT (everyone in my classes gets around a 34, and a 35 doesn't seem that out of the normal. Haven't seen many 36s though.)</p>

<p>It seems to me that getting good score on the ACT is alot easier than on SAT. If most highly selective schools prefer either one without discrimination then I would suggest my son to take the ACT. It seems students prepared it in less time than the SAT.
We are international and not familiar with the ACT. Everyone in my country only have knowlege on the SAT. My son is preparing for the SAT but is little diappointed on the PSAT score he got last year as a sophomore ,while alot of his friends with B average GPA got higher score than he did! Since SAT is suppose to be an apptitude test,do you think my son,a high achiever with perfect GPA so far in a very competitive school will have a better chance in getting 35-36 than 2350-2400? I think he may be one of the few of whose SAT scorer that can't match up with GPA. On mathll SAT he got perfect score. You see I think SATl is different. Is ACT more preparable?
My son did not take phyics yet and planning to take it in senior year. Do you have to take this in order to do will on the science section? He will be done with honors chem and bio this year and will take APs next year.
PLEASE reply. I am really concerned</p>

<p>you don't need physics for the science section. it is pretty much graphical analysis and scientific reading comprehension...</p>

<p>I got a 35.<br>

<li>None</li>
<li>First time</li>
<li>Take it, see where you stand, and then practice your weaknesses.</li>

<p>i got a 36....in a letter they sent me 23 people in the country got a 36 on the december teting date..to give you an idea.</p>

<p>1.)Did you consider the ACT to be "hard"? nope
2.)Were you confident on all your answers? i was confident on all my english and reading answers (though i did miss one english) and a little iffy on some math and science ones (but i got them right anyway)
3.)How much prep work did you do? none
4.)How many time had you taken the ACT before you got the 35/36? none
5.)Do you have any tips for me to get a score of 34+? the questions are really straightforward, you just haev to be able to work really fast in the science section</p>

<p>How do you guys answer the reading question?
Do you read the passages in the Science section?
Do you read the whole passage in english or just the underlined sentence?</p>

<p>Did you consider the ACT to be "hard"? No, not really. Definitely easier compared to the SAT.
Were you confident on all your answers? Almost all of them.
How much prep work did you do? None, I did prepare for the SAT though.
How many time had you taken the ACT before you got the 35/36? I got a 35 the first time.
Do you have any tips for me to get a score of 34+? PACING. Make sure you give yourself enough time to finish all the questions.</p>

<p>How do you guys answer the reading question? Read the question carefully and go with your first instinct. It's probably right.
Do you read the passages in the Science section? Read the questions first and refer back to the passages when it asks you to.
Do you read the whole passage in english or just the underlined sentence? I read the whole passage.</p>

<p>Thanks for the help guys.</p>

<p>I got a 29........</p>

<p>I would also like to say thanks to all those repliers. really gaves me some confidence on my first ACT i'm gonna take on april 8th. i'm still a little shaky on the esssay though lol</p>

<p>J mom -- </p>

<p>your son sounds like an excellent candidate for taking the ACT, although if you are international, i am not sure how you can make that work.</p>

<p>Many kids do better on one test or the other. Many high scorers on the ACT so not do as well on the SAT and many that score high on the SAT do not score as well on the SAT.</p>

<p>The key (if you can find a way for your son to take the test) is to do some prep before the test. The science portion of the ACT is science reasoning, not factual knowledge -- so a lack of physics is not a problem.</p>

<p>thank you for your reply hsmomstef</p>
