Yea that’s true. I don’t need a laptop or laundry, but some plane tickets would have been nice.

Why shouldn’t the parents feel proud? Just because you don’t earn scads of money is no reason not to feel proud. My husband is proud of his accomplishments as a special education teacher and coach, and rightly so. He chose this occuption and excels at what he does.

To insinuate that our parents aren’t “scrimping” to pay expenses is just offensive. My parents are teachers; it’s not as if they’re lazy couch potatoes who can’t be bothered to get off their asses and support their kids.

I’m a little more worried about college though, I don’t want to be forced to go to the state school, because it will most likely be free, like my brother almost was.

That’s true. Luckily, there are still several colleges that are need blind, and I’m sure there are plenty that still give out great FA to applicants they like. We just need to hope that this remains the case.

True. I’m just worried because I got lucky with BS, not sure if I’ll get lucky with college. My brother didn’t get very good FA. Oh well…I’m a kid, Ill worry about that later. Right now I’m loving summer…btw I’m in England!

I am not arguing with you on that keylyme :). What I sadi was that getting FA wasn’t really something parents would be proud of, although they should be proud of their kids for their achievements.

MPICZ! Dammit, I just arrived in France, vis a vi my facebook status… You wouldn’t happen to be staying in England until beyond… August 15?

Haha nope, I leave by July 1st. We’ve been here a few times so didn’t really want to spend long. Where is TASIS located?

It’s in a town called Thorpe in Surrey. It’s a little south of London I think. If you’re close, it might be worth a look, haha. It’s got a nice campus, but don’t let that fool you into thinking I should have stayed ;)

One of my good friends from England is from Surrey, so I may go there sometime and see TASIS.

Dooo it. I don’t think summer school has started yet so you could probably get away with walking around campus. There’s a massive construction project going on at the moment so just ignore it lol

I’m an international from Peru, I got accepted into Deerfield, Kent and Tabor. Tabor denied financial support while Deerfield and Kent wait listed me for assistance. Definately, harder as an international. Even harder after economic crisis. Just bad luck, I’ll try next year anyway.

woah, what? deerfield has a FA waitlist?

i received full FA from Exeter, but I’m not entirely sure if I count as an international student (I’m not a US citizen yet).

DiveAlive, maybe only for international financial aid. It isn’t need blind for local applications though.
