If so, what was so distinguishing about you? How did you find Stanford?

<check the="" stats="" profiles="" of="" 'accepted'="" students="">
<------(see left and up)</check>

I think what did it for me was that I was in the vicinity (not really, but about 30 minutes away by car) and my school is under performing in a bad neighborhood, and no in the last 4 years got in.

pdef, what'd you mean the stats profiles of Accepted students? Where are the accepted students....

Go to "Stats Profiles"
Stanford University
Class of 2011

trend shows that first one is always accepted
c'est moi~

hey alohasam89

what does
(9 – engineering, state category winner/international finalist)

mean in ur stats profile?

for me, I think it was the not-so-common combo of math/sci + fine arts....

gustav i'm applying for transfer admission..do you think that really helps. Mine is engineering + fine arts. Did you incorporate this into any of your essays or did you just put that stuff in the fine arts supplement?

hey gustav klimt... i'm a science/fine arts person too. how did you emphasize that in your application?

I actually don't think it's that uncommon. Plenty of people excel at both math and art - of course, less probably pursue both fields..

Most students at Stanford are exceptional.

yeah, i didn't realize how many people were science/arts until later in the college selection process, when i started meeting other people who got accepted into the same schools.
I don't really know that much about how Stanford regards transfer student admissions, but the criteria shouldn't be that different from regular admissions, yeah?
actually, I missed the deadline for the fine arts supplement, but I did list awards that I had received in both areas, and I had done summer programs in both fields. The ECs also were very indicative about my interests in both areas. I discussed my passions in some of the "short answer" fields- the prompts asked about intellectual interests and meaningful activites. I let the other essays be more "creative". Hope that helps...?

funny how most of the international students get accepted, they're probably exceptional tho, winning national titles and such . . .

not really. They are just diverse and different compared to USA students. And of course Stanford wants diversity...

Uh no, they're pretty exceptional if you're actually familiar with some of the international students at Stanford. And it doesn't seem like you are, so you really have no perspective on the matter.
