I hope she gets what she wants for her birthday!

My daughter got an email this morning. (We are out of the country.) She’s been offered a generous scholarship and is really happy! She went off to her last final exam this morning with a big smile on her face. She’ll wait to see what happens with the other apps, of course, but I would put money on her being in Appleton next September. It’s really nice to have a few LU connections here.

I don’t check this site every day, so sorry about the delay in responding. As far as research opportunities for science majors, small liberal arts colleges often have advantages over big schools in terms of undergraduate research, because the professors get to know their students and they don’t have a pool of grad students to use for research. So yes, I think LU will have a lot of opportunities in terms of on-campus and also off-campus internships, etc. Most of the small liberal arts colleges these days seem to be really emphasizing research opportunities, along with study abroad programs and independent study.

Wishing everyone good luck! I hope you’ll all be getting packets or messages that make you happy soon.

Congrats to you and your daughter, OverseasMama.

@OverseasMama - I’m really happy for you and your daughter!

@Cellomom2 - Happy Birthday to your daughter! I’m sure she’ll get good news!

I got the email a while back. I’ve been accepted! I’m so happy at this moment! :’)
I still don’t know the status of my financial aid/merit scholarship yet. I’ll need to check up on that.

Thanks, lawrencemom. Good news so early really takes the pressure off.

Congrats, hitkarshchanana! I hope the financial news is also good.

Congratulations Overseas and Hitkarshchanana!

Thanks Redpoint, no news yesterday, hoping to hear today!

Congratulations Overseas and Hitkarshchanana!

Remember, if it’s coming ‘with the snails’ it may not arrive until tomorrow or Monday. Waiting is a killer, isn’t it? I am hoping for good news for you. Keep us posted.

Ack. No big envelope. They did send an envelope, but it looks like a holiday card (I hope), not a rejection. My kid isn’t here so I can’t find out yet. Did anyone else get one of these?

And yes, this is a killer! She is waiting on two other EAs that aren’t here yet, also, even though this is the deadline.

^ yes!
what happens when the small envelope from Lawrence turns out to be a holiday card?
The holiday stamp was a giveaway, no way would they use something so festive on a rejection letter.

aaaaarrrrrrgggghhh - depression then happy and now more waiting…

Funny joke from Lawrence Admission staff! (We’ll forgive you if you mail her good news!)

We got one of those earlier in the week also. My heart dropped when I saw the small envelope until I noticed it wasn’t the right shape for a letter, phew! Also, I was hoping they wouldn’t send a holiday card followed immediately by a rejection! The personal touch is awesome, but would also feel more personal if she was ultimately rejected. Our mail hasn’t come yet today, it is a killer!

Checked online and it says I was admitted.

However I can’t see letter so I don’t know what the award is :(

Go to the online portal you received and it should show “update” click link. It took me to congratulations you’ve been accepted then link to accept offer and link to admitted students day. No copy of the letter but I’m good. I guess the package is tomorrow.

Well, that’s cool. My daughter couldn’t log in and see any admission data anywhere… had to wait for letters. Yes, LU can get very creative with cards and letters that come in snail mail. Keep posting. It’s fascinating the ideas they come up with each admissions cycle. Usually merit awards come in the ‘big envelope’ as an additional letter at the same time as the admissions letter. Hopefully tomorrow’s mail will bring good news to those who are still waiting…

:) now to wait for the official letter.

Yay, Yay, Yay. Thanks for the tip! She’s in . . . (Needs to know about the price though)

Congrats all!

Knox did the same thing right before Thanksgiving but they scanned the letter and attached it. Looks like admin office put these up at end of day today.

My son his official letter in the mail on Saturday the 21st. He was admitted and was offered the Warch scholarship. He had a great visit in October, stayed overnight, went to a concert, and a couple classes, and spoke with a professor from the department he’s interested in. And the admissions folks have been wonderful.
