Anyone here....

turn down a full scholarship to go to the school you're going to? I did, and it's killing me inside-- just want to know if I'm alone in my selfish glory.

Was the scholarship to your safety school? If it was and your going to a better school then don't feel bad. You're probably a great student to have gotten that full scholarship, so you deserve to go to school that all that hard work got you into. If it's the money of the school you're going to, don't worry too much. When your parents wrote that registration check on May 1st, they knew how much the school was costing, and what it would take to pay for it. I doubt many parents would just agree to let you pass up a scholarship and go to an expensive school without thinking it through and explaining to you what adjustments or sacrafices were being made for your education. They don't do it to make you feel bad, they want you to appreciate what you're getting. If you feel the descision was selfish, I bet it's about the money. Don't worry about it. If you are truly happy with the school you've chosen, then you're parents will be okay with the money. They obviously don't want you missing out on educational, social, and ther general life-changing experiences just to save them money.

Yes, I did, and the scholarship wasn't to a safety school. I really liked that school and sometimes I second guess myself but what can you do? I really like it here and I wouldn't trade this school for anything, so that's all that matters.

my one friend from college turned down a full scholarship to one school to attend mine because his girlfriend was there. she then broke up with him 6 months later and started dating his roommate. i'm sure he wishes he took the full ride scholarship....

I gave up the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship (100% tuition paid) to go to an out of state school. I would have never been happy at any school in Florida. Even though I have to end up paying for a large chunk of my education now, I'll do it because I know that I'm at the school that I wanted to be at. :)

i turned down a few full rides, or almost full rides for stanford. but it's stanford, and their fin aid is good enough for me that it was worth it. my parents didn't pass up the chance to let me here at first. but then they got used to stanford and don't mention it...as much.
