Yea, I'm goin to be going to that particular college within U of I and just wanna know what people think of it. Is it good? Bad? Average?

The school of ACES is known for being easy, except the Animal Sciences major.

really? Cause I'm gonna major in Consumer Econ. and Finance, and was just wondering of the rigor level and whether it's a decent fit. I don't want a completely easy task for myself.

Hopefully you're just really smart lol.

Most of this is just what I've heard. Why don't you just do LAS Economics?

Cause I don't wanna transfer right now. My goal is to try to have a business related major. I would've rather been in the college of business, but my ACT wasn't high enough to get me there. I chose that major b/c you can get jobs within marketing firms, as marketing is one of the areas that really interest me.

Just keep in mind its not nearly as rigorous as a typical business major.

how hard would you say that animal sciences is? Because that is my major and I just want to know what Im up against and since they choose me for that major does reflect good upon me?

^ I know the major requires more math and science. How difficult the major is depends on your concentration within the major.
This site explains the diff. concentrations:

I know you have to Calculus for Business which is fairly difficult, and at least one semester of Chemistry. Chemistry from what I hear is very very difficult at Illinois.
A lot of people who are Pre-Vet major in Animal science.

I plan to go into Pre-vet which is the only reason why i chosse animal sciences

"Just keep in mind its not nearly as rigorous as a typical business major."
Wrong. You take nearly the exact same core classes. Most of your classmates will be business students. However, I wouldn't recommend this major within ACE because it doesn't take advantage of the strengths of the department (environmental, resource, ag econ) and for career purposes I'd try to switch to the business college unless you like those things. Make sure to take Econ 102, Econ 103, CS 125, and ACCY 201 ASAP and then I think it's easier to switch.

I'm in pro pilot right now for aviation but i think ill be transferring to consumer econ. the classes within the major look pretty awesome. a major reason for me doing consumer econ and not LAS econ is that bullsh1t foreign language requirement... im not gonna waste 16 credits worth of time taking a foreign language, id rather just take consumer econ and pick up another minor, which i think ill do "environmental economics & law."

LAS econ is also notorious for undergrad classes being taught by
a. TAs who speak little English
b. Professors with less than stellar credentials
If you do get a star professor in LAS econ, forgot trying to talk to them. I like ACE because you do get to have a lot of interaction with professors with pretty hefty CVs. You do take some LAS econ classes...and you get to wonder why LAS econ is considered "better." You also can take advantage of heavily subsidized study abroad, which is much cheaper than LAS's.
