Anyone in Computation Modeling/Mathematics/Physics/etc?

One of the schools I am applying to offers a Computational Modeling emphasis for their BS in Computer Science. I've been really reluctant to do computer science because of the H1b situation and the fact that is seems like everyone is doing it, but this is really interesting to me. I'm a pretty decent self-taught programmer, and have done very well in my computer science classes. I haven't learned Fortran yet. I thought I might get a Fortran book and learn it over the summer.

Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts on computational modeling. Especially thoughts on how stable the job market will be in a few years. My other options right now are engineering physics and geophysics.

That’s what I’m going into, if that’s any consolation. I hope it will be alright… and the good news is that as long as you don’t become so specialized that you don’t learn what a regular CS major learns, you can always fall back on regular software jobs… some of the best there are right now, and some of the best for the near future, too. See the BLS.
