I've been accepted to the honors program, but I've only just recently (this past weekend) sent in my deposits (room deposit and $200 deposit). Will I still be given priority housing in Myers even though I sent my stuff in kind of late?

I think getting into Myers would be a stretch, having registered for housing so late. Myers is only 60% honors from what I understand. In other words, you do not have to be in honors to be in Myers.

Thanks for the reply raphifix.

In the event that I do not get to dorm in Myers, will the housing committee still honor a roommate request in another dorm? (given that I place the request later as I still have not received notification about my first choice).

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking. If you are asking if they will still put you with the same roommate but in a different residence hall, then yes, they will do that. Also, I’m not sure if it’s too late for you to alter your request, but if you could, consider putting Hill Hall at the top. I didn’t even have Hill in my top 3, but they put me there, and I would really recommend it for freshmen. The hall is convenient to just about everywhere you will need to go. It’s a 4-5min. walk to the SLC (now called the MLC) and Tate, and a 10min. or less walk all my classes. If you have classes that are further away or want to work out at Ramsey, there’s a bus stop about 2 minutes away, as well as O-House dining hall. Also, the rooms are very spacious. I would say they are the largest out of all the freshman residence halls. And there’s a sink in every room, along with heat and A/C controls. Whenever my friends come over from Creswell or Russell, they always comment on how large the room is. The only downside is that unlike the high-rises (Creswell & Russell) there is not much activity, due to the small size of the hall. However, I have a lot of friends here so it’s not much of an issue for me. Oh, and one last thing. We’ve yet to have the fire alarm go off (with the exception of the planned fire drill) This may seem trivial, but I have gone on Facebook several times to see about 10 statuses with the same general idea: “The fire alarm went off at 4am. Thanks Creswell. ■■■”

Sorry I sort of went onto a tangent, but I hope this helps you and maybe others as well. If you have any other questions regarding the honors program in general, feel free to ask. :-)

Ah, sorry about my ambiguous question.

I meant if I don’t get Myers (which is my first choice), will I still be able to pick a specific roommate for whichever dorm that they do assign me to, even if I haven’t listed a specific roommate on my housing registration right now. (basically if I do get Myers, I don’t mind random rommate assignment, but if I don’t get Myers I have a person in mind that I want to room with and was wondering if this was possible that late in the housing registration process).

I appreciate your response though, and I will definitely look into the Hill Hall. (I remember reading about the fire alarm drills in another thread as well–definitely does not sound like something I’d want to hear often)

Also would I be able to change my dorm choice (priority list) even after submitting? Because I’ve already submitted mine as 1. Myers 2. Creswell 3. Russel

Thanks again!

I don’t know the answer to your first question, but I do know that you can change your dorm list after you submit it! You just have to log back into the same website you did the first time, change the order to what you want, and resubmit it. I did it to change mine to Reed, Myers, and Oglethorpe after I had accidentally put a non-freshman building as my number one.

I think as long as your choices are the same as the other person’s, then you ought to have no problem getting your requested roommate, despite possibly not getting the hall y’all wanted.

Thanks raphifix and Katiana, I appreciate both of your responses.
