Anyone interested in Mercer Class 2010?

Also, nebody been there and have advices or comments?

i'm going to mercer this year

i visited and loved it

i'm going to start mercer this fall

i visited and loved it

really i got a half scholarship to there but the cost is still too high including boarding. r u goin to the scholarship/interview on the 4th or 18th. I have a 4.2 gpa with a 1760 sat I dont think I will win anything if I go....

Mercer University is fairly generous. It's a great school or so it seems especially if you're considering GA Tech or UGA. Smaller class sizes and professors that care.

i just got the tift thing today, i have no idea if i'll get recommended or not, cuz i don't know how to get a tift scholar to recommend me, but i'll figure it out. i don't know what day i'd go down.

i have a 4.074 gpa and 2100 sat and pretty good EC's, nothing spectacular but it's all stuff i care about, not just bs Beta Club and stuff, i think everyone that gets invited has a shot at a scholarship, your gpa shows you work hard.

good luck, let me know what day you're going down

I'm a freshman at Mercer this year. I'm the child of a Baptist minister, so I get 50% off my tuition, plus an instrumental scholarship and a scholarship for attending a Baptist church.

I applied to Mercer last March as a last resort--I'd applied to five other schools and I just didn't seem happy (Furman, Virginia Tech, NC State, Campbell, Catawba) with my choices. I missed out on all of the scholarship competitions held in the fall, but was still offered academic scholarships--but w/ my 50% offer I could either choose that or the academic scholarships.

Social life at Mercer is--ehh. There are a LOT of people here from ATL, Savannah, Warner Robins, and rural GA--out-of-staters are few and far between. Many people go home on the weekends, but I live 7 hours away and am stuck here. I chose not to rush this past fall--sometimes I wish I had but it just seemed too early for me to jump into something I wasn't sure about. Maybe next fall, maybe not. Although the Greek population is only 25%, sometimes you might wonder where the other 75% has gone.

Macon isn't exactly the ideal college town--sure we have a mall, some clubs, all the big stores, but that's basically it...it's just "a town" and that's about it.

Let me know if you have any other questions...anybody...

Thx guyz
-I think I might go on the 18th
-I got the Tift thing too but apparently they think Im a female hehe (Which Im not)
-I really don't want to go to Mercer unless I get close to a full tuition scholarship. The thing is I want to be a pharmacist and UGA (where I was deffered) and Mercer have good pharmacy programs (i dont know of any other), but it's really competitive at Uga unlike Mercer. So I would love to go to Mercer if it were a public school or if I can get close to free tuition.
-Tho I doubt I get any scholarships that day. So my plan is to go to Georgia State and transfer to the Mercer U in atlanta where I can get a Phard. D. degree. I wonder if I can do this???? Or maybe I have to get my basics at GSU then transfer to UGA (if I don't get in) then after four years go to either Uga or Mercer in Atlanta pharmacy schools.
-BTW Are there any Asians there?

-SO THey said that on that day whether you get a scholarship or not is based on your sat/act scores, gpa and interview score. How is the interview going to be like I wonder. 4.2 gpa and 1760 sat 1150 math and verbal. Just tell me to stay home if you think Im not going to get close to full tuition right? hehe It is a 2 hour drive lol.

-I really appreciate it if you guyz can give some advices and answers.

2 hours is nothing... it can't hurt to try..

mercer is fairly generous

While Mercer may not have a cutthroat pharmacy program in your book (I don't know much about the UGA program), it's not all too easy. I have several friends in the EAP, (Early Acceptance Program) where you spend 2 years in Macon doing undergrad work (maths, sciences), and if your grades are good you automatically accepted to the pharm. school in Atlanta, where you spend four years. 6 years to a PharmD is pretty cool, I agree, but you're also shorting yourself two years of college life as an undergrad--something you'll never have again.

Maths and sciences at Mercer aren't too easy--a tremendous number of people come to Mercer as pre-professional (I was set on either pre-pharm or pre-dental) and move to other subjects (business for me...) after one semester of chemistry. In fact, I withdrew from Gen. Chem. I after I decided I didn't want to spend the next __ years of my life dealing with science...

Yes, Mercer is generous w/ money, and 2 hours isn't that much of a drive. You're gonna get something with a 4.2...I know they give out laptops to some people...

Asians? That's something you'll have to decide for yourself. I have 3 on my hall--but there aren't any on three other halls I can think of... I myself was surprised at Mercer's diversity--I expected it to be all white, upper-middle class students from the suburbs, but that's certainly not true.

Wow realliee...
Welp I will try to see if I can make it on Saturday. Yea Im taking AP Chem and AP Bio right now and it's not easy, hopefully Ill be able to keep up with my Biochemistry major in college. I guess I update on what will happend if i go.

Aite Thx alot rspn70 and kylew. I really appreciate it.

No prob--hope you enjoy your visit...

Hay guys im also goin to Mercer. Im goin on a 75% scholarship and i have still yet to visit the campus. But i heard that it isn't that bad to look at

not bad at all. there's nothing to dislike about, at least that i've seen.
