I have an interview at Rochester this week. Anybody who's already had an interview- what kinda questions do they ask? Please respond, this is my first college interview so i dunno what to expect. Thanks!

When i was interviewed, i was asked like 4 questions. It seemed like the person who was interviewing me wanted me to just tell her things about myself without any questions. I talked about academics/community service/what was going on in my life at the time. The questions that she did ask were about why i was interested in the college...how would i contribute to the college...what have i done to best prepare myself for the demands of college...and how my life was going. Nothing to really worry about; just be yourself and don't try to present yourself as someone you're not. Hope this helps.

yea i got in ED, and i had an interview like last august, and basically everything jers55 said. Its basically like talk about everything u do and they answer ur questions if u have any. And they ask u general stuff like how u found out about the school. Hope that helped. Good luck :)

i don't know how representative my interview is of others, but when i had mine, they gave me a sheet to fill out about myself - my classes, major EC's, why i got interested in the school, stuff like that.

when i went to talk to the actual interviewer, she looked over my sheet and started asking questions.. just like the above 2 ppl said. but then we kinda started drifting off. i guess i was lucky because we had very similar interests and personalities. so we just kinda talked about science and being nerdy, and kinda enjoyed ourselves. we laughed a lot, disturbing the other interviewers, which i found amusing

i personally think if u can manage to make friends with your interviewer, you're going to get the best results. u don't necessarily have to talk about why u chose to go, or what u do. they have that anyway. the point of the interview is to get a personality on a application file, so by making friends with ur interviewer, u get a step closer to doing that.

Mine was informal, enjoyable and required no preparation. I t became apparent towards the end that I was being sold on Rochester.
I was asked what other schools I planned to apply to. Since it was before I applied, I mentioned several. She took notes.

Thanks everyone for your help!

thanks! my interviewer hasn't gotten back to me yet of when he would want to interview with me. So, i'm waiting on that. I did ED 2. My stats aren't too comparable with U of R's but I have a lot of experience in the area so idk, we'll see.

if you applied regular, how do you sign up for an interview?

same way as early. you just go to alumni interview request, fill out ur name, zip code, state or w/e, and they assign u to someone in the state. just make sure, like if u live in the suburbs of a major city that is in another state, make sure you let them know where u want to interview at.
i put in jersey for mine and it turned out i was assigned to someone in princeton an that's like more than an hour from my area so we couldn't find a good time to meet so he just told the interviews coordinator to find someone in the philadelphia area since that would be closer.

how long can we interview until? is their a deadline. im going to try to go up to rochester, does it need to be before febuary?

not sure what the deadline is, but I just wanted to say...I got in!!

now i know why my interviewer has not gotten back to me, he didn't have to lol

if anyone knows the deadline, post ASAP !

stonecold- i believe the interviews ended last week. here is where you would sign up for one: http://enrollment.rochester.edu/admissions/visit/on-campus/.
you can still have a tour and info session i believe. if you go, make sure you wear warm clothes!

i had an interview and it was really chill. the alum said that if it was based off just the interview i would be admitted...sucks that its not haha cuz i prolly wont get in otherwise.

u went from chicago to rochester?? or your interview in chicago was chilly? yeah, i wisih interviews counted more heavily. my interview with brown university was amazing, the guy really liked me and stuff, but turns out it wasn't strong enough to get me into brown ed.

hahah ... my interview was really chill. I went to visit rochester...and some other schools out there. but theycouldnt get me in the schedual to interview while i was out there, so i interviewed later in Chicago. I loved it by the way

oo, gotcha...haha, that prolly sucked for u not to be able to squeeze into their schedule after traveling all that distance...

nah i got family out there and enjoyed being there....i proll would have been stressed if i had to interview on my vacation...haha i looove it out in upsate ny i need to go there for school
