Hi everyone!
My friend who is interested in visual arts visited East Carolina University and fell in love with the school. She told me that they have a great MT program (It's a BFA in Theatre Arts with a MT concentration), so I decided to just take a chance and apply. I was accepted to the school today and sent my video audition a couple weeks ago (I received a reply that I would be hearing back from them very soon if I was accepted). It seems like a great school -- beautiful location, fairly good academics, etc. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me anymore about their MT program? Thanks in advance!

Here is a thread on ECU from last spring - one auditionee apparently had a fairly negative experience. YMMV.

Thank you so much for posting that link! It’s weird how that thread did not show up when I searched the forum for “East Carolina University.”

It definitely seems like their audition process is similar to one I experienced in the fall; I was ushered into a room with the head of the department/two other faculty members and had exactly 4 minutes to perform 2 songs and a monologue and once it was done, I didn’t even get feedback. I left the room and the audition was over; my mom stayed in the hallway and didn’t even get to meet anyone that worked at the school or ask questions. I’m supposed to receive a letter within the next couple months but I’m not expecting an acceptance because it was my first MT college audition so the nerves were high and I didn’t have enough time to get focused and perform as best as I could. ECU seems to be sort of like this. I can’t decide if that’s a complete turn-off or not. The good news is, I didn’t really lose anything by sending them a video audition and if I do get accepted, it’s nice to know that I made it and I might keep it on the list of considerations.

Anyways, thank you for posting the link, EmsDad!
