Anyone know about transfer to Bowdoin, Midd...

They accept <15% of transfer applicants -but would you guess that the competition is less stiff than for a school like Amherst, say...

midd's not accepting transfers at all this year, unfortunately.

How do you know? I was communicating with an admissions counselor a couple of weeks ago and they didn't mention that...

wow. then i'm wrong. though i have some friends that sounded fairly positive.

I've seen a few of the transfer lists for Middlebury over the past few years, and I know students have transferred to Midd from schools like Harvard and Williams. Midd accepted 4% of transfer applicants last year. Amherst has not made available their transfer numbers for last year, but the year before they accepted 9% of transfers. The number of transfers accepted depends on the total number of applications received and the college's assessment of how many who are accepted will enroll. Middlebury received a record number of ED I applicantions this year (25% increase over last year), so who knows how many spots they'll have for transfers...

Yikes... okay. If anyone has more to say on this, I'd like to hear it.
