Anyone know anything about Duke's Intro to Biochemistry course over the summer?

I'm planning on taking it this summer at Duke since I live nearby and it conflicts with a course I have to take as a junior for my major. I need it to apply to some of the medical schools I'm looking at.

Anyone know anything about it? Is it boring? Interesting? Difficult? Easy curve?

Thanks a lot.

If you are talking about 227 and it’s taught by the same 3 people (Hellinga, Greenleaf, and Hsieh) I can tell you more about it.

Yup! Talking about:

BIOCHEM 227 Intro to Biochemistry

I would LOVE some info about it.

See pm.

I forgot to mention the curve in the pm. It’s gets better and better as the semester goes on. I know it’s weird, but Hellinga’s test is easy (it’s on stuff like polarity of water) so he’s really harsh on the grading and the average is still high. Greenleaf’s tests are straightforward but since he teaches all memorization stuff (think enzymatic pathways) people don’t do as well, so the second test is harder therefore a better curve. Hsieh is really nice and puts questions from previous tests (which he gives out) on his tests but his materials require actual application and he does want you to think about his questions so average on the final (Hsieh’s stuff mostly) is usually the lowest thus the best curve.

In the end, they all try to curve to a B/B- I think.
