Anyone know anything specific about SHIP (student health insurance plan) at UCLA? Is it free? How do we get it and what does it cover? Any info would help thnx

So could it be said that many UCLA students are full of SHIP? ;)

no it isn't free - the fees for it are just built into your quarterly fees unless you provide proof of another insurance you have in which case you can waive out of it. It costs $558 a year. It is a blue cross HMO that can also come with a dental insurance if you choose.
Personally, I keep the SHIP as well as my parent's insurance because it makes things easy when I have health issues up here at school since SHIP covers everything for free (for the most part) at the Ashe center, and because I despise HMOs otherwise.

Hmmm....that's more expensive than my PPO, does the Ashe center take other insurance co.'s card?

more expensive than your PPO? are you sure about that one? Which insurance carrier do you have now?

If we take the SHIP we can leave other health insurances like Kaiser, right?

I can't make heads or tails of that SHIP. ;)

Oh c'mon! This is comedy gold!

My insurance is much higher than $558 per year. SHIP seems preety good, if it covers all health probs.
