<p>ok so we are required to take those summer orientation classes to register for classes right? if so, when are the dates? i need to know because i am traveling to another country and going to stay there for a long time like a month or two. is the orientation during usually august? i am planning on leaving for jun 10-15 and staying until about end of julyy</p>

<p>You’re not necessarily required to go to a CalSO session, but it is strongly recommended because you get a head start in registering for classes. Here are the dates:</p>

<p>Sign up as soon as you can because the website says they fill up fast. I just signed up and I’m pretty excited :)</p>
<p>earlier sessions have a better pick of courses as you register during CalSO. Evem if you get into the classes with a late CalSO, perhaps it is not the times or instructors you want. Some classes you may want have only one section, and if that conflicts with the time of another class because all the alternate sections are filled, then you may be effectively blocked from a class you want. </p>

<p>How do I sign up for CalSo??</p>
<p>I scrolled to the bottom of the link posted in post #3, and clicked the button at the bottom right of the webpage that says “I’m ready to log on!”, but only a white page with this text shows up:
"Login succeeded, directory lookup failed.
Error description = No directory entries found.

<p>peaceofcake, that shows up because you probably submitted your SIR recently, but it takes a 1+ hours for the system to update. Check back in a couple hours to sign up.</p>
